Mrs. J. G. Dowlin Dead

Mrs. J. G. DOWLIN [Jessie HARTLEY, wife of Josiah Gwynne DOWLIN], a life-long resident of this community, died
February 28, 1935, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H[erbert] E. [Gladys] RICH of Des Moines.
She is survived by her husband, her son, John [Lewis] DOWLIN, of Compton, California; two daughters, Mrs.
H. E. RICH, of Des Moines, and Virginia DOWLIN, of Shenandoah, and three grandchildren,
Jack and Ann DOWLIN, and Herbert RICH.
The funeral services were conducted from the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. E. E. STRINGFELLOW
of Des Moines, her former pastor. Interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery, Blockton.

Mrs. J. G. Dowlin, 62, Dies In Des Moines

Mrs. J. G. [Jessie (HARTLEY)] DOWLIN, 62, a resident of the Blockton community for many years, died at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. H. E. RICH, in Des Moines, Thursday, Feb. 28. The funeral services were held at the
home in Blockton Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. E. STRINGFELLOW of Des Moines. Burial was in the Rose
Hill cemetery [Blockton, Taylor County, Iowa].
Mrs. DOWLIN is survived by three children, John [Lewis] DOWLIN of Compton, Calif., Mrs. H[erbert] E. [Gladys]
RICH of Des Moines, and Miss Virginia DOWLIN, who teaches in Shenandoah. There are also three grandchildren,
Jack and Ann DOWLIN and Herbert RICH.
