OBITUARY ~ ELIZABETH (LOVE) GERMAN CAMPBELL

July 13, 1926 ~ February 17, 2012

Elizabeth (LOVE) GERMAN CAMPBELL passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012, at Valley View Village in Des Moines IA. at the age of 85.

Mrs. CAMPBELL was born July 13, 1926, in Lotts Creek Township, Ringgold County, IA to Martin and Lucy (HAMBLIN) LOVE. She married Everett GERMAN on September 7, 1946, in Troy Kansas. He passed away in 1984. There were 2 children born to this union, Jim (Phyllis) GERMAN of Decatur, Il and Jackie (Scott) CUNDIFF of Alvin TX.

On January 1, 1996, she married Rev. Ward CAMPBELL at Athelstan, IA. He passed away in 2007. Elizabeth spent most of her life working as a nurse's aid at Horton's Nursing Home in Mount Ayr, IA and Mercy Hospital and Valley View Village in Des Moines, IA. She loved teaching children about Jesus at Athelstan Independent Holiness Church and Des Moines Eastside Church of the Nazarene. She was a devoted wife and mother who taught her children the love of reading and the importance of a good education.

Mrs. CAMPBELL was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; half brother Francis LOVE; half sister Ruth (LOVE, ALLEN) SANDERS; a brother John LOVE; sisters-in-law Peggy LOVE, Mickey LOVE and Marge LOVE; and her step-daughter Mina Faye (GERMAN) FAUST.

She is survived by her children; brother Andrew (Nancy) LOVE of Orange, TX; sister Mary (Melvin) FELDHOFF of Hampton, IA; brother Melvin LOVE of Pleasantville, IA; sister Aves (Bill) FITZGERALD of Des Moines, IA; 2 grandsons Scott (Cherie) CUNDIFF of Clear Lake TX and Sean (Cara) GERMAN of Monticello, Il; four great-grandchildren: Sarah and Matthew CUNDIFF, Emmerson and Kelton GERMAN; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and 4 step-children.

Memorials may be made to Valley View Village of Des Moines, Iowa; Hospice; and Eastside Church of the Nazarene in Des Moines.

Services were held on Tuesday, February 21 at 1:00 PM at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, with Rev. G. R. CUNDIFF and Rev. Michael FITZGERALD officiating. Musicians were Deb CANNON and Phyllis GERMAN.

Casket bearers included Scott CUNDIFF, Sean GERMAN, Bryce FELDOFF, Scott FITZGERALD, Thomas FITZGERALD and Jeff LOVE.

Elizabeth was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemtery in Mount Ayr.

Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr was in charge of arrangements.
