Note: Mary Emma (Dance) TREICHLER was born July 12, 1851, the daughter of John & Phoebe Harriet (Hodson) Dance. She was an artist (painting) and wrote poetry and songs. Her song, "Pin My Grand Army Badge on My Chest", was written for her father, Major John Dance, who served with the 8th Iowa Cavalry during the Civil War. She married James Madison Treichler (1844 - 1931, also a Civil War veteran who served as a Captain of the 95th Pennsylvania Infantry. Mary Emma and James were interred at Lisbon Cemetery, Linn County, Iowa
