OBITUARY ~ LAWRENCE E. "BISH" BISHOP
December 13, 1924 ~ September 03, 2014

Lawrence E. "Bish" Bishop, son of Merwin & Ruby (Robinson) Bishop, was born May 6, 1934 at Lewis, Iowa. Bish served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan. On November 21, 1960, he married Florence Osborn in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Her sister, Angeline, and father, Lawrence Osborn, stood up with them. The family moved from Lewis, Iowa to Tingley in 1968 and lived a short time with her parents. They soon had a home for themselves and have made Tingley their home since.

Bish worked construction but will be most remembered for working at Nichols Elevator in Arispe, Iowa and England's Service Station in Tingley for several years. Bish loved to garden and was known to have a crop of carrots that filled the back end of his pickup! Bish was a loving husband and father. He always had time for his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

Lawrence passed away on September 11, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son Melvin Lee Bishop; and his siblings Rosemary McGowen of Texas, Gertrude Swinford of Duncan, Oklahoma, Robert Bishop of Omaha, Nebraska, and Richard Bishop of Atlantic, Iowa.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Florence Bishop of Tingley; step-son Darrell Clark of Littleton, Colorado; daughters Sherry (Bobby Kibbe) Briner of Tingley and Lori (Paul) Tull of Creston, IA; grandchildren April (Justin) Hansen, Joshua (Schianniah Parsons) Briner, Kaden Kibbe, Kody Kibbe, Bethany (Toby) Burgess, Kristen (Edman) Floyd, and Brandon Tull; great grandchildren Clayton, Dustin, and Jasmine Hansen, Austin & Alice Briner, Kaitlyn, Keigan, and Levi Burgess, Nevaeh, Mikalya, Jayson, and Serenity Floyd; sister Berniece Ihrke of Atlantic, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2014 at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Reverend Bruce Giese officiating.
