OBITUARY ~ LAWRENCE W. BROWN

Lawrence W. BROWN, son of Frederick Francis and Minnie (REFFNER) BROWN, was born December 5, 1899 at Tingley and passed away at his home in Cambria July 15, 1956 at the age of 56 years, seven months and ten days. He was raised in Ringgold County and lived there until 1943 when he moved to Wayne County. He was engaged in farming until 1952 at which time he moved to Cambria and purchased the filling station which he operated until his death.

On September 3, 1926 he was united in marriage to Mary D. BLEVINS and to this union four children were born. He is survived by his wife, Mary, one daughter, Beverly HART of Corydon, Robert of Des Moines, Richard who is serving with the airforce at Mountain Home, Idaho and Dwight at home, a son-in-law, Kenneth HART, daughter-in-law, Doris BROWN, four grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Minnie BROWN of Tingley, two brothers, Joe of Tingley and Irvin of College Park, Maryland, a sister, Vienna ADAMS of Shannon City and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother. "Shorty" as he was affectionately known to everyone, was a devoted husband, a kind and loving father and will be greatly missed by his family as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock from the Hutchinson Funeral Home in Humeston with Rev. A. VanBENSCHOTEN conducting the service. Mrs. George SNYDER and Mrs. Raedean STREET accompanied by Mrs. Howard SWAINEY sang "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset." Pallbearers were Loy TUTTLE, George SNYDER, Junior GARTON, Orvis DENT, Maynard STREET and Eddie RELPH. Mrs. Ida DENT and Mrs. Isabel KIRCHNER were flower girls. Interment was in the Cambria Cemetery [Wayne County, Iowa].
