OBITUARY ~ SUSAN AVIS (STEPHENS) BONEBRAKE

Susan Avis STEPHENS, daughter of Elizabeth and Thomas Jefferson STEPHENS, was born in Redding, July 26, 1899, and died in her home in Blockton, Iowa, April 17, 1950, at the age of fifty years, eight months and twenty-two days.

She was raised on a farm between Blockton and Redding and graduated from the Blockton high school in 1916. She taught school in Blockton, Diagonal and Clearfield.

At the age of 22 she was married to Willard F. BONEBRAKE of Diagonal. To this union was born one daughter, Betty Jean RASCO, who lives in Perry, Iowa. She spent her married life from 1921 to 1944 in Des Moines, then moved to Blockton where she lived until her death. She was a member of the Redding Methodist Church since 1914.

She was preced in death by her father, Thomas J. STEPHENS, who died in 1933, and a brother, Roy died in 1939, also a brother, Emmett, who died in infancy.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Willard BONEBRAKE, one daughter, Betty Jean RASKO, son-in-law, John RASCO, one grandson, John RASCO, Jr., one granddaughter, Susan Norene RASCO, her mother, Elizabeth STEPHENS, her sister, Lela STEPHENS, two brothers, Lester STEPHENS and Thomas STEPHENS, and a host of friends.

The funeral was held at the Blockton Methodist Church Thrusday, April 20, conducted by Floyd and Linda TOLBY, assisted by Boyd BONEBRAKE, and interment was in the Fairview cemetery southwest of Redding.

OBITUARY ~ SUSAN AVIS (STEPHENS) BONEBRAKE

Mrs. W. F. Bonebrake, age 50 years, died at her home in Blockton, April 17. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Stephens and was a teacher in 1922 in the Clearfield school and will be remembered as Avis Stephens. She is survived by her husband, William Bonebrake, and one daughter, Mrs. R. Roscoe and a grandson of Perry, Iowa. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Blockton and burial in the Geo. Stephens cemetery south of Redding. The deceased was an aunt of Jack Bonebrake, Clearfield editor.
