OBITUARY ~ ROBERT CALVIN BEAMER

Robert Calvin Beamer was born November 23, 1850 in Clinton County, Ohio, the youngest son of Phillip and Sarah Beamer. In 1854 he came with his parents to Appanoose, County, Iowa where he grew to manhood, and later moved to Ringgold County, Iowa.

He was married to Emily A. Wolfinger January 21, 1868. To this union were born seven children, three dying in infancy and Stella at the age of 20.

There remains one son Mr. Alonzo L. Beamer of Milwaukee, Wisc. and two daughters, Mrs. Ida Farnsworth, Ottumwa and Mrs. Sadie Bender of Clearfield. Besides there are two brothers, Mr. A. Beamer of Louisburg, Kans., Mr. Isaac Beamer of Clearfield and one sister, Mrs. Mary Wells of Centerville, Iowa. Seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends remain to mourn the loss of this loved one.

He spent almost his entire life in Iowa with the exception of four years in the west. He has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Bender for the last ten years and it has been a great comfort and a thankful member of the family and an honest upright man.

He has been failing in health for several months, but it was not considered serious until a few weeks ago. Last week he went to St. Joseph for treatment.

There he departed this life at the Ensworth Hospital about noon Wednesday April 28, 1920 at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 5 days.

His daughter, Mrs. Bender and niece, Mrs. Lena Huffman were with him to the end. He met death in a brave way and said "We all have one time to live and one time to die". And he knew his time had come.

The body was brought home on Thursday and taken to the home of Mrs. Bender south of town. Funeral services were held in the Clearfield Methodist Church at 1:00 on Saturday, Rev. E. O. Douglas officiating. Interment was in Clearfield Cemetery.
