OBITUARY - MARJORIE A. "MARJ" (BISHOP) BARRY

Marjorie A. (BISHOP) BARRY was a kind, generous, and extremely gentle soul. She was born in a farm house near Ceylon,
MN on November 12, 1921. Her family moved to Mount Ayr, IA in 1930. Marj had 2 brothers and 1 sister; James D.,
Laurance,
and Elizabeth. Marj graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1941. She married Norman BARRY on October 6, 1943. They had
one daughter Norma A. BARRY [born] on December 11, 1947. Marj was a guardian to those she loved always protecting
and never
whining or complaining about her lot in life. Her favorite family vacation was going out to Colorado to visit her
sister Elizabeth and her family in the mountains! She was a cherished aunt. While raising Norma, Marj was very
active in the church, as Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, and U.M.W. along with bible studies.
As a teenager, Norma could not use the car on Saturday night if she missed Sunday school and church on Sunday
mornings. Eastern Star was also very important to her.
Marj was an adored grandmother to her four grandkids; Mitch, Nicole, Holly, and Leah SIVERLY. She and her sidekick
Uncle Loren were their #1 fans always going to any and all events the kids were involved in at school. Grandma Marj
& Uncle Loren were always there ready and waiting to take the kids home and stop and eat somewhere. Grandma Marj was
a rich woman, maybe not with money, but definitely in character & faith. She oozed with compassion, love, and wisdom
in always being able to take the hurt away with a single hug. She left behind a legacy of the “Angel Food Cakes”.
Teaching her granddaughters how to make them just so with lots of patience, effort, caring, and gentleness. The cakes
were loved by all who received them. Marj went to be with her Lord on September 17, 2008.
Marj was preceded in death by her mother Olive BISHOP; brother James D. BISHOP; beloved and cherished grandson Mitch
SIVERLY; brother-in-law Loren BARRY; husband Norman BARRY; and just recently sister-in-law Flo BISHOP.
Those left to continue her legacy of the “Angel Food Cakes” are daughter Norma & husband Lawrence SIVERLY;
granddaughter Nicole & husband Tom CARTER; granddaughters Holly & Leah SIVERLY; sister Elizabeth & husband Bill
JEFFERSON of Colorado; brother Laurance & bride Margie BISHOP of Mount Ayr; and several of her nieces and nephews.
Towards the end, illness was slowly stealing her mind, but it could never steal her faith. Marj left no doubt that
she was rooted and grounded in Christ. Up until the very end she could still remember and sing “Jesus Loves Me” and
parts of “The Old Rugged Cross”! She will live on in the hearts by all who knew her. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr. Source: www.funeralplan2.com/watsonarmstrongfh/obits
