OBITUARY ~ SARAH CORDELIA (OVERHOLSER) BAILEY.

Mrs. Wm. BAILEY died at her home in west Clearfield on Wednesday, Aug 6. Surviving her are her husband and two sons, Walter and Roy and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church.

Sarah Cordelia OVERHOLSER was born in Johnson County Iowa, March 1st, 1854, and departed this life at her home in Clearfield, August 5th, 1931, at the age of 77 years, 5 months, and 4 days.

She was married to William E[dward]. BAILEY, January 29th, 1874. To this union were born three children, two sons and one daughter. Roy and Walter, both of Clearfield, were at her bedside when she went away. The daughter, Mrs. Boyd [Lola] NEVILL, preceded her mother, to their heavenly home some years ago.

Mrs. BAILEY, with her husband, moved from Johnston Co. to Ringgold Co. and settled on a farm fifty-four years ago. For the past twelve years they have resided in Clearfield.

She was converted and joined the Methodist church in her youth, and has ever been an active and consistent Christian. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother, one whose children could rise up and call Ò'blessed".

She leaves to mourn their loss a husband, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one brother, one sister, and a host of friends.

"Servant of God, well done,
Thy glorious warfare's past;
The battle is fought, the race is won,
And thou art crowned at last."

Funeral services were held at the Clearfield Methodist church on Thursday afternoon, August 6th. Pastor D. I. HOWER officiated. The pallbearers were six grandsons, Gail, Cecil, Clifford and Forest BAILEY, Loren and Clyde NEVILL. Interment was in Clearfield Cemetery.

OBITUARY ~ SARAH CORDELIA (OVERHOLSER) BAILEY

Mrs. William Bailey died at her home here [Clearfield] last Wednesday morning of heart failure. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and interment was made in Clearfield cemetery. Sarah Cordelia Overholser was born March 1, 1854, in Jackson county, Iowa, and departed this life at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 4 days.

She was married to William Bailey on January 29, 1875 and to this union three children were born: Roy and Walter, who were at her bedside when she died and Lola, Mrs. Boyd Nevill, who passed away several years ago.

Mrs. Bailey moved to Ringgold county with her husband and settled on the farm northeast of Clearfield in Lincoln township fifty-four years ago, residing there until they came to Clearfield twelve years ago. She united with the Methodist church when a girl and has always been a faithful Christian woman, loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, two sons, Walter and Roy and nine grandchildren besides ten great-grandchildren.
