OBITUARY ~ MARY ELIZABETH (GULICK) ARGO.

Died, at her home near two miles southeast of Blockton, Monday morning, July 5, 1909, Mrs. Mary E[lizabeth]. ARGO, aged 70 years, 2 months and 24 days.

Mary E[lizabeth]. GULICK was born in Macon County, Illinois April 12, 1839. She was married to A[lexander]. J. ARGO, February 3d, 1861, at St. Joseph, Champaign County, Illinois. They came to Mahaska County, this state, in the fall of 1861, and in the spring of 1868 moved to Ringgold County where they have since resided.

There was born to them five children, two sons and three daughters, three of whom survive - Mrs. Alice NICKLES, David ARGO and Mrs. Susan CORTNER, all of whom were with her [in her final moments].

The deceased joined the Christian church in her youthful days but in later years because of poor health, was united with her home church. She was an exemplary wife and mother, true and devoted, whose death will be regretted by all.

The funeral took place at the home Tuesday at 10 o’clock, the funeral sermon being preached by Rev. G. W. WOOD. Interment took place in Rose Hill cemetery [Blockton].
