The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1922

OBITUARY - W. S. ANDERSON

William Stanley ANDERSON, son of Mr. And Mrs. William D. ANDERSON, was born in Gilford county, North Carolina, February 17, 1849, and died at his home near Mount Ayr, Iowa, October 26, 1922, aged seventy-three years, eight months and nine days.

At the age of two years he moved with his parents to Henry county, Indiana. When he was eleven years of age, his parents came to Decatur county where he grew to manhood. He was married December 4, 1870 to Miss Ellen FRAZIER of near Leon, Iowa. To this union were born three sons: Charles C. of Sandusky, Ohio; Edward I. who departed this life June 1, 1915; and Jesse M. of Mount Ayr, Iowa.

In 1875 he moved with his family to Reno county, Kansas, where they lived until the year 1880 when he returned to Decatur county and in 1881 he came with his family to Ringgold county where he has since resided.

There remain to mourn his loss besides his wife and two sons, one sister, Mrs. J. P. DUNN of Abbyville, Kansas, five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

At the age of twenty-two he was converted and united with the M.E. church and remained a faithful member until his death. He was one of the charter members of the Eureka M.E. church, having contributed largely toward its building and support.

In his going the family has suffered the loss of a kind husband and a loving father. The community has lost one of its most honored and respected citizens.

The funeral services were held at the Mount Ayr Methodist church Sunday, October 29, by Rev. Jay KIRKENDALL, assisted by Rev. F. M. ULERY. Interment was made at the Rose Hill cemetery.
