Carolyn Louise WALKER was born August 15, 1935 near Kellerton, Iowa, the third-born to Anna Bernice BALDON and Lyman Gardner WALKER.

Her early education was obtained at Monroe Center, a rural school near the farm where she was born. She graduated from Kellerton high school in 1953 and went on to attend and graduate from Iowa State College with a degree in home economics education.

On April 14, 1957 she was married to Charles F. "Joe" ALEXANDER at the Kellerton Methodist Church. Charles was in the Army and they moved to the Chicago area. Carolyn taught at the Palatine high school and helped start a Baptist mission church in Palatine, Illinois. They moved to Ontario, Canada in 1963 and Carolyn taught home economics in four different high schools in Toronto. She was also active in setting up cooperative education and child development courses.

Carolyn and Charles "Joe" retired in 1995 after she had worked as an educator for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling to different countries and locations. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed the role of grandma.

Carolyn passed away June 29, 1999 at North York General Hospital, Toronto, Canada, after a short illness of liver cancer.

Survivors include her husband Charles F. "Joe" ALEXANDER of Stouffville, Ontario, Canada/South Padre Island, Texas; sons, Todd (Cindy) and daughter Courtney of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and David and family Christina and Steven of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada; step-mother-in-law, Roseanne CAPER of Sun City Center, Florida; brothers, Robert L. (Loy) WALKER of Marengo, Iowa, Lyman J. (Ann) WALKER of Searcy, Arkansas, and Barry B. WALKER of Des Moines, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Anna WALKER; an infant brother in 1931; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law.

A private cremation service was held. Interment will be October 31, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. in the Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton. Arrangements were made by O'Neill Funeral Home, Stouffville, Toronto, Canada (905-642-2855). Memorials may be made to Kellerton United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 56, Kellerton, IA 50133.
