— D. C. ABAR (sic, should be ABARR), of Ringgold County, well known in the eastern part of Taylor County, died on the 12th inst., of consumption, aged about fifty-four years.

NOTE: Daniel Carroll ABARR was born February 15, 1828, the son of John B. Sr. and Rhoda (WILSON) ABARR. He married Anna Maria POORE (1844-1932), the daughter of Alvin and Julia Ann (DeWITT) POORE, on August 13, 1861. They were the parents of twelve children which included Silas W. ABARR (1863-1942), Curtis Edward ABARR (1864-1947), Addie May ABARR (1869-1870), Alvin John ABARR (1875-1951), William ABARR, Ralph ABARR, Harlan ABARR, Cordelia (ABARR) BENDER, Mary (ABARR) EDWARDS, Belle (ABARR) PARKER, Gertrude (ABARR) GALLAUGHER, and Effie ABARR. Daniel and Anna were interred at Fairview Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
