Welcome to the Poweshiek County Historical & Genealogical Society.

The Poweshiek County Historical & Genealogical Society was organized in 1978. It is dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of historical information about Poweshiek County and its citizens. A museum and library is located in Montezuma, the county seat. Volunteers may be available to assist in research. Currently about 220 members belong to the society.

Mon, Thurs, and Sat 9am to 4pm , and by appointment
Note: hours may vary during winter months, please call for details

Meetings:
First Thursday each month.
Board meets at 1:00 PM.
General meeting at 1:30 PM.
No meeting in Dec, Jan or Feb.

Membership:
Per year, July through June. Call to find out current fee.

Publications:
"The Searcher" a quarterly newsletter, is included in the membership fee.
Inquire about other available publications.

Query Information:
Research fees are $15/hr, plus expenses for copying, postage, etc.
Note: there is a small deposit required before researcher will search.
