The class of
1927 Montezuma high school graduates held a 50-year reunion,
Saturday noon, July 16, at the Malzuma Inn. These 15 of the 23 class
graduates were present, together with nine husbands and wives as
guests. Those pictured and their city of residence are, from left,
front row--Agnes Stanley Byers, Grinnell; Thelma Johnson Johnston,
Conrad; Agnes LeMay Bryan, Oskaloosa; Alice Underwood, Montezuma; Velma
Dickson, Downers Grove, IlI. Second row--Ernest McFerren,
Montezuma; Dorothy Putnam Moore, Gibson; Leona Hesselschwerdt Burkett,
Minburn: Charlotte Lohr Johnson, Des Moines; Freida McCormick Gerard,
Montezuma; Constance Schoales Cummings, Montezuma.
Third row--Ned Alexander,
Montezuma; Cleo, Tarvin, Leonia, N.J.; Floyd Ferguson, St. Claire
Shores, Mich.; and Charles Raymond Ayres, Montezuma. Only one class
member, Clifford McKeag, is deceased. Class members unable to attend
the reunion were Kathryn Zerbel Peters Minn.; Marie Ludeman Peterson,
Idaho Falls, Idaho; Nellie Tish Thompson, Jackpot, Nev.; Pauline Rivers
Lane, Sun, City, Ariz.; Harold Broadston, Bovey, Minn.; Ferris
Seaverns, New Sharon; and Sadie Bruggen Phillips, Montezuma. The class
made plans to hold another reunion in five years.
