Allee, Francis Marion – served as a Private in the 9th Indiana Battalion Artillery, enlisted Feb 25, 1862, mustered out June 26, 1865, Discharged Telegraphic Order A. G. O. He was born June 25, 1844 in Park County, Indiana, died Feb 17, 1906 in Walnut, Iowa. Mother – Nancy Wolf, wife – Mrs. Mary E. Huxford.

Austine, Theodore P. – served as a Private in Company I, 78 Illinois Infantry, enlisted Aug 14, 1862, mustered out June 17, 1865.  He was a prisoner of war.  Mr. Austine was born Apr 28, 1843 in Ohio and died Jan 7, 1921 near Walnut, Iowa. Father – Michael Austine, Mother – Amy Snyder.

Barrett, William F. – served as a Musician in Company D, 14th Ohio Infantry, enlisted Sep 4, 1861, mustered out Sept 12, 1864 on expiration of term of service.  He was born Jan 1, 1846 in Buffalo, N.Y and died Dec 8, 1930, burial in Calvary Cemetery, Stuart, Iowa. Wife – Susan

Bixby, Benjamin F. – served as a Private in Company E, 47th Iowa Infantry, enlisted May 4, 1864, mustered out Sep 28, 1864 in Davenport, Iowa on expiration of service term.  He was born June 17, 1828 in Somerset County, Maine and died Nov 21, 1914 in Walnut, Iowa. Britton, Reason P.  – served as a Private in Company C, 32nd Ohio Infantry, enlisted Mar 31, 1864, mustered out with his Company, July 20, 1865. Born in Knox County, Ohio, occupation – Teacher

Brown, Albert H. – served as a Wagoner in Company G, 151st Illinois Infantry, enlisted Feb 9, 1865, mustered out Jan 24, 1866 at Columbus, Georgia.  He was born June 18, 1840 in Salisbury, Connecticut and died Mar 11, 1917 in Walnut, Iowa

Brown, Davis S. – served as a Private in Company D, 52nd Illinois Infantry, enlisted Feb 10, 1865, discharged July 6, 1865 at Louisville, KY.  He was born in 1830, Sunberry, North Cumberland County, Penn. And died May 27, 1904 in Walnut, Iowa. Wife – Pauline

Cary, Nathan – served as a Private in Company G, 36th Wisconsin Infantry, mustered in Feb 27, 1864, mustered out as a Corporal on Oct 9, 1865.  He was born Mar 5, 1820 in Fulton County, N. Y., and died April 15, 1922 in Walnut, Iowa, burial in Layton Township Cemetery, Walnut, Iowa. Wife – Mary M. Airhart.

Casey, James A. – served as a Private in Company F, 13th United States Infantry, enlisted at age 18 on Feb 14, 1863, discharged Sep 17, 1865.  He was born in Ireland and died Nov 30, 1889. He joined the G.A.R. Dix Post #408 on Oct 31, 1885.

Clingman, Henry Clay – served as a Private in Company B, 71st Illinois Infantry, enlisted July 14, 1862, mustered out Oct 29, 1862, reenlisted as a Private in Company E, 146th Illinois Infantry, Sep 3, 1864 and mustered out July 8, 1865.  He was born in Stephenson County, Illinois and died May 18, 1893 in Walnut, Iowa. Copley, Isaac – served as a Lieutenant in Company G, 89th Illinois Infantry, enlisted Aug 25, 1862, resigned for disability May 8, 1863.  He was born in 1817 in Harpersfield, N. Y. and died Nov 23, 1905 at age 88 in Walnut, Iowa. Wife – Elizabeth

Frisbie, Milton Bronson – served as a Private in Company G, 75th New York Infantry, enlisted Sep 23, 1861 for a 3 year term, after 13 months was promoted to Captain of Company H, 3rd Louisiana Infantry, was disabled from sickness the last year of his service and discharged one month before his term expired, July 1864. He was born Sep 16, 1831 and died May 8, 1906, burial in Layton Township Cemetery, Walnut, Iowa. He served as a Commander of G.A.R. Dix Post #408, Walnut, Iowa. Father – Seth B. Gaskill, Stephen N. – served as a Private in Company B, 1st Missouri Cavalry, enlisted Sep 15, 1861, discharged Mar 3, 1865.  He was born Feb 8, 1829 in Tompkins County, N. Y. and died Nov 3, 1905 in Bellevue, Iowa, burial in Lisbon, Iowa, aged 76. Father – Levi Gaskill, Mother – Regia Weckes

Grace, George – served as a Private in Company H, 55th Indiana Volunteer Infantry, enlisted July 21, 1862, for three months, mustered out at expiration of term.  He was born in Rush County, Indiana, occupation -  stock raising. He joined the G.A.R. Dix Post #408 on Nov 26, 1898 at age 64.

Hall, George E. – served as a Lieutenant in Company K, 113th Illinois Infantry, enlisting as a Sergeant on Aug 11, 1862, promoted to 2nd Lieutenant Jan 25, 1864, promoted to 1st Lieutenant May 27, 1865, mustered out June 20, 1865.  He was born in 1837 in Washington County, New York and died July 7, 1890 in Walnut, Iowa, burial North Cemetery, Walnut, Iowa.  Wife – Mrs. Emily Goodrich.

Henry, James H. – served as a Private in Company D, 7th Kansas Cavalry, enlisted at age 16 on Nov 1, 1861, mustered out Nov 4, 1864.  He was born in Saint Joseph County, Michigan, occupation – clerk.

Jack, Henry B. – served as a Private in Company C, 22nd Iowa Infantry, enlisted Aug 2, 1862, taken prisoner and paroled May 22, 1863 at Vicksburg, Mississippi, wounded slightly Sep 19, 1864 in Winchester, Virginia, mustered out July 15, 1865 at Savannah, Georgia.  He was born April 14, 1834 in Burlington Township, Licking County, Ohio and died July 18, 1900 in Newell, Iowa. Kellogg, George – served as a Private in Company G, 5th Minnesota Infantry, enlisted Mar 17, 1862 for 3 years, mustered out as a Sergeant Sep 23, 1865 at close of War.  He was born in West Brookfield, Massachusetts.
Kevan, James – served as a Private in Company F, 174th Ohio Infantry, enlisted at age 36 on Aug 29, 1864 for one year, mustered out with his Company June 28, 1865. He joined G.A.R. Dix Post #408 on Oct 31, 1885.

Sleeper, Sherburne A. – served as a Private in Company K, 4th Maine Infantry, enlisted at age 20 on May 1, 1861 at Belfast, Maine, discharged July 22, 1863.  He was born in Belfast, Maine and died May 9, 1887 in Manila, Iowa, aged 46 years, 9 months, 14 days, burial in Belfast, Maine, occupation – lumber dealer.

Smart, Joshua E. – served as a Private in Company I, 149th Ohio Infantry (National Guard) for 100 days on May 2, 1864, mustered out with his Company on Aug 30, 1864 at age 19.  He then served as a Private in Company I, 185th Ohio Infantry, enlisted at age 20 on Feb 15, 1865 for one year, mustered out with Company on Sep 26, 1865.  He was born in Rock County, Ohio.

Smith, David W. – served as a Private in Company A, 102nd Ohio Infantry, enlisted at age 21 on Aug 7, 1862 for 3 years, discharged March 15, 1863 at Russellville, Kentucky on Surgeon’s certificate of disability.  He was born in Benton, Ohio, occupation – shoemaker

Snyder, John Wesley – served as a Private in Company K, 202nd Pennsylvania Infantry, enlisted at the age of 17 on Sep 5, 1864, mustered out with Company on Aug 3, 1865.  He was born in Huntington County, Pennsylvania, occupation – Farmer.  He joined the G.A.R. Dix Post #408, Walnut, Iowa on Oct 31, 1885.

Spangler, Irad Tice – served as a Private in Company C, 149th Pennsylvania Infantry, enlisted Aug 23, 1862, wounded at Bethesda Church, Virginia, June 2, 1864, mustered out with Company June 24, 1865. He was born May 16, 1844 in Myerstown, Pennsylvania and died Sep 24, 1911 in Omaha, Nebraska, burial in South Cemetery, Walnut, Iowa.

Stowe, Burdette Allen – served as a Corporal in Company C, 28th Iowa Infantry, enlisted at age 18 on Aug 13, 1862, promoted to 6th Corporal Nov 2, 1864, and 4th Corporal Jan 6, 1865, mustered out July 31, 1865 at Savannah, Georgia.  He was born May 10, 1844 in Eaton, New York and died Aug 28, 1938 in Grinnell, Poweshiek County, Iowa, burial – Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell, Iowa.
