Albrecht, Robert – served as a Sergeant in Company K, 45th Wisconsin Infantry. He enlisted Jan 27, 1865 and mustered out July 29, 1865. He was born Mar 2, 1839 in Germany and died Nov 12, 1907 with burial in Harmony Cemetery, Strang, Fillmore County, Nebraska.

Avery, Albert S. – served as a Second Lieutenant in Company K, 15th Vermont Infantry. He enlisted May 2, 1863, residence Vershire, Vermont, and mustered out Aug 5, 1863. He was born Aug 7, 1841 in Vermont and died Jan 26, 1929, burial in Pomona Valley Memorial Park, Pomona, Los Angeles County, California.

Blair, Matthias J. – served as a Sergeant in Company C, 34th Illinois Infantry, enlisting Sept 2, 1861. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1842 and died in Pottawattamie County, Iowa on Nov 16, 1899.

Brown, Edward P. – served as a Private in Company E., 1st Iowa Infantry.  He enlisted Apr 20, 1861 at age 22, residence Wapello County, Iowa, and mustered out Aug 21, 1861. He was born May 21, 1839 in Ohio and died Feb 20, 1910, with burial in Conway Cemetery, Osage Beach, Camden County, Missouri.

Clark, Riley – served as a Private in Company A, 144th Illinois Infantry. He was born Apr 30, 1849 in Freeburg, Illinois and died Nov 5, 1927 in Neola, Iowa, buried in Old Neola Cemetery, Neola Township, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Dillon, Columbus D. – served as a Captain in Company G., 7th Iowa Infantry. He mustered in July 1862 as First Lieutenant, mustered out May 1865.  He mustered in again June 14, 1865 as a Captain and discharged July 14, 1865.  He was taken prisoner July 30, 1863, escaped twice but was recaptured and returned to prison. He was born Aug 31, 1842 in Knox County, Ohio.

Dowling, Hugh Sr. – served as a Private in Company K, 12th Wisconsin Infantry. He mustered in Oct 17, 1861 and mustered out Dec 22, 1864. He was born Jan 12, 1836 in Pennsylvania and died Feb 5, 1914 in Neola, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Duggan, John H. – served as a Private in Company F, 10th Minnesota Infantry. He was born Oct 3, 1847 and died Oct 1, 1903, buried in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Boomer Township, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Fisher, Jonathan C. – served as a Private in Company B, 9th Iowa Infantry. He enlisted Nov 5, 1864 and mustered out July 18, 1865 in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was born Sep 13, 1839 in Galesburg, Illinois and died Feb 7, 1906 in Neola Township, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Gallup, Jasper – served as a Private in Company B, 29th Iowa Infantry, enlisting at age 27 on Feb 27, 1864 and mustered out Aug 10, 1865 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Before the war he as a plasterer and brick mason. He was born in New York, father, John Newton Gallup and mother, Henrietta Dilley.

Garrison, John Danforth – served as a Private in Company B, 38th Iowa Infantry.  He was born June 3, 1837 in Orlean County, New York and died Mar 23, 1901 in Omaha, Nebraska, with burial in Logan Cemetery, Logan, Iowa.

Gilbert, James I. – served as a Colonel in the 27th Iowa Infantry, Aug 10, 1862, promoted to Brig. General Feb he was a proprietor of a livery stable and dealer in real estate. He was born July 16, 1823 in Louisville. 9, 1865, a Brevet Major General Mar 22, 1865, mustered out Aug 24, 1865. When the war broke out, Kentucky and died Feb 9, 1884 in Topeka, Kansas, buried in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa.

Hammitt, Sebastian R. – served as a Private in Company D, 145th Illinois Infantry.  He was born Sep 16, 1846 in Waynesville, Illinois and died July 29, 1936 in Logan, Iowa, with burial in Harris Grove, near Logan Iowa.

Hardymartin, John – served as a Private in Company D, 72nd Illinois Infantry, enlisted Dec 18, 1863 and mustered out Nov 24, 1865.  He was born in 1842 in Jefferson City, New Jersey and died Dec 13, 1915 in Minden, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Higgins, Eben B. – served as a First Lieutenant in Company I, 1st Minnesota Heavy Artillery.  He enlisted Feb 20, 1865 and mustered out Sep 27, 1865. He also served in the Minnesota Civil and Indian Wars.  He was born in 1823 and died April 2, 1889.

Homan, Francis Perry – served as a Private in Company F, 40th Iowa Infantry.  He was born in Ohio, enlisted at age 26 on Aug 9, 1862 and mustered out Aug 2, 1865 at Fort Gibson, Cherokee Nation.

Huss, George W. – served as a Private in Company C, 1st Pennsylvania Artillery. He  was recruited at Washington, D. C., mustered in Feb 11, 1864 and mustered out with his unit July 1, 1865.

Larison, Samuel H. – served as a Private in Company B, 2nd Illinois Cavalry, enlisted Aug 12, 1861 and discharged Sep 9, 1862 with disability. Later he served as a First Lieutenant in Company D, 145th Illinois Infantry, enlisted June 9, 1864 and mustered out Sep 23, 1864. He was born in Illinois and died May 1889.

McGrew, Simon – served as a Private in Company B, 126th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted Aug 11, 1862 and mustered out July 12, 1865. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1842 and died in Omaha, Nebraska, Dec 28, 1915.

McGrew, Thomas – served as a Private in Company K, 140th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted May 4, 1864 and mustered out Oct 29, 1864. His pension file also shows that he served in Company I, 28th Illinois Infantry, enlisting Feb 28, 1865 and mustered out Feb 25, 1866.  He was born in Illinois and died Jan 15, 1905 in Ainsworth, Nebraska.

Mathews, Benjamin F. – served as a Private in Company G, 3rd Missouri State Cavalry.  He enlisted Mar 10, 1862 at New Hope, Missouri. He was born May 20, 1842 in Lincoln county, Missouri. He married Laura Holmes Jan 10, 1867.

Meierstein, Thomas – served as a Private in Company H, 45th Ohio Infantry. At age 23 he enlisted on July 31, 1862 and was discharged May 31, 1864 in Cincinnati, Ohio for disability. He was born Oct 25, 1838 in Berlin, Germany and died Aug 22, 1920 in Sioux City, Iowa.

Reed, William A.  – served as a Private in Company A, 29th Iowa Infantry.  He enlisted Nov 15, 1862 and mustered out Aug 10, 1865 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He was born Feb 22, 1840 in Jackson County, Ohio and died Dec 29, 1929 in Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri.

Reichart, Emanuel – served as an Orderly Sergeant in Company C, 143rd Pennsylvania Infantry.  He enlisted May 22, 1861 near York, Pennsylvania at age 19 and mustered out June 19, 1865. He was born June 4, 1845 in Pennsylvania and died Oct 3, 1940 in Hobart, Oklahoma, burial in Neola, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Robinson, Sumner T. – served in Company A, 7th Indiana Cavalry. His wife was Sarah J., pension filed in Iowa, SC 786 160. He was born Sep 5, 1845 in Massachusetts and died Sep 15, 1921 in Sac City, Sac County, Iowa, with burial in Oakland Cemetery, Sac City, Iowa.

Shepard, Henry – service record unknown, born in New York, 1835.  He was listed in the 1885 Iowa Census, living in Neola, Pottawattamie County, Iowa, occupation, carpenter, wife, Ruth, age 36, born in Boone County, Iowa, as well as children, Horace, 12, Celia, 14, Clarence, 10, while daughter Mable, 2, was born in Carroll County, Iowa.

Simons, George – served as a Private in Company B, 29th Iowa Infantry. He was born in Canada in 1835 and died in 1918.  His family is in the 1885 Iowa Census, living in Neola, Pottawattamie County, George Simons, a widower, age 50, occupation, painter, and children: Rosa, age 10, born in Harrison County, Iowa, and Nora, age 5, born in Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Smith, Henry [Hopkins] – served in Company K, 14th Iowa Infantry. He was born July 5, 1835 in Illinois and died July 19, 1914 in Colorado, burial in Ovid Cemetery, Ovid, Sedgwick County, Colorado.

Snook, George W. – served as a Sergeant in Company I, 30th Iowa Infantry.  He was born in Indiana in 1844 and died April 4, 1912 in Danville, Illinois, with burial in the City Cemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa. He joined two posts in the Grand Army of the Republic: Gilbert Post #225 in Neola, Iowa, and Sample Post #170 in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Stuhr, Johann P. – served as a Private in Company B, 8th Iowa Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted at age 20 on Sept. 23, 1864 and mustered out Aug 12, 1865 in Montgomery, Alabama.  He was born in Germany on Jan 12, 1844 and died in Minden, Iowa on Dec 10, 1915. His father was Johannes Stuhr, mother was Ann Carstenson, and wife, Amelia Cornelius.

Upson, Julius A. – served as a Private in Company G, 115th Ohio Infantry. He enlisted July 28, 1862 for three years.  He was captured Dec 5, 1864 at Lavergne, Tenn., escaped from a rebel prison in Cahaba, Alabama, and reached Union lines Dec 29, 1864.  He mustered out with his company June 22, 1865 at Murfreesboro, Tenn. He was born Aug 10, 1837 in Summit County, Ohio and died Oct 13, 1895 in Harlan County, Nebraska.

Vickery, Eli – served as a Private in Company G, 4th United States Artillery, enlisted May 20, 1861 in Chicago, Illinois and discharged May 20, 1864 in Nashville, Tenn.  He was born Apr 8, 1840 and died Feb 7, 1929 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was an early pioneer in Malvern, Iowa and attended a Grand Army of the Republic Convention at Gettysburg, Penn. in 1913.

Wells, John F. – served as a Private in Company G, 15th Iowa Infantry.  He was born June 11, 1844 in Brown County, Ohio, married Miriam Davies, Aug 26, 1866 in Knoxville, Iowa, and died Dec 13, 1928 in Madison, Nebraska where he is buried.

Whitney, John A. C. – served as a Sergeant in Company F, 15th Iowa Infantry.  He enlisted Oct 10, 1861 at age 20, born in Cass County, New York.  He was wounded Apr 6, 1862 and discharged, but reenlisted Jan 29, 1864 and mustered out July 22, 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky.
