5 May 2001(OLAFSSON)Swen Olafsson (b. 1815), wife Sigrid Pehrsdotter (1810), and sons Peter (1843) and Sven (1847) came from Tännäs, Jamtland, Sweden in 1867. They travelled from Quebec to Chicago to Minneapolis. They are said to have moved from Fondo, Pocahontas Co, IA to Dakota County, MN at some point. The wife of Peter apparently arrived in Goodhue Co in 1876. Their first recorded child there was in 1878. The family took the name Högberg, though Peter's headstone lists Hegberg and Sven, Jr.eventually adopted Hoberg. Peter's wife's family may have also lived in Iowa. They were destined for McGregor, but I don't know where she met Peter. It could very well have been in Minnesota, but they too could have been in Pocahontas. Her name was Mareth (Mary) and her parents were Goran Karlsson and Brita Elsbjorndotter. Her siblings were Sigrid and Karl. They may have used the name Elsberg. I hope to hear from anyone that might recognize any of these names. I don't know if Sigrid Högberg died in Iowa, but I know that the rest of her family made it to Minnesota. I don't know much at all about Mareth Högberg's Carlsson/Goransson/Elsberg family. Thanks.
