McCullum - Eccles

The following account of the marriage of Miss Iva Eccles, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J. A. Eccles of this place is taken from the Gilmore City Enterprise, of Gilmore City, Iowa & is of interest to her many friends in this place who wish the young people long life, prosperity & happiness.

Wednesday, June 23, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Methodist church of Fort Dodge, in the presence of only the immediate relatives of the contracting parties, occurred the marriage of Miss. Iva Eccles to Frank J. McCullum. The bride is the second daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J. A. Eccles of Burlington (Kansas) and the groom is a nephew of Mr. & Mrs. A Debolt of this city.

The groom is very well known here, as he has made his home with the Debolt family for the past twelve years. To most of us, the new Mrs. McCullum is a stranger, as she only came to Gilmore City some six months ago. Since that time she has resided with her cousin, Mrs Frank Rosik, & has made for herself many warm friends.

The bridge's gown was of embroidered white georgette crepe, with hat, gloves, and pumps to match. She carried a bouquet of roses, lily of the valley, and orange blossoms. The groom was attired in the conventional black.

Mr. McCullum is a member of Gilmore Post #239 American Legion. During the recent war he spent over a year in the service of Uncle Sam. February 26, 1918, he left Gilmore for Camp Dodge, & from there he was transferred to Camp Devans. July 8, 1918, he, with the other members of his organization, embarked for France, where he spent a year in overseas service. July 1, 1919, he returned to the United States, & he arrived home July 16, 1919 honorably discharged from the service. While in the army he was a member of the 602d Engineers. He saw active service in France two months. Since his return home, Mr. McCullum has been employed as a truck driver for the Gilmore Portland Cement Corporation.

Upon return of the bridal party, they gathered at the home of Mr. & Mrs. A. Debolt, where a sumptuous dinner was served at seven o'clock. The table and dining room was beautifully decorated in pink and white crepe paper streamers, & with deep pink roses and peonies. The newly weds will go to housekeeping immediately in the groom's residence in southeast Gilmore.
