Bob Markin 3 Aug 2001 00:56:16 -0700 (MARKIN) Hi: I have really enjoyed your wonderful website in looking for some of my ancestors and note a couple of changes in names that I have found.
In death records - Dec 1880 through Aug 1887 you have shown Cora May Markin as a Mrs. Cora May Markin, born 14 july 1867 at Jasper County, Indiana and was moved with her parents to Coffeyville, KS where her sisters and brothers, including my father Benjamin Franklin Markin II, b. 14 Feb 1879. The family moved on to Rolfe, IA shortly after 1881 or so.
In birth records - The son born to Charles D. Markin and Jane Elizabeth Cunningham on 7 July 1887 was named Walter Scott Markin who died 24 Dec 1938 and is buried at Clarion, IA. He was shown as "son" in the record as he no doubt had not been named as yet.
I haven't found any record as yet but I know that my Grandfather Benjamin Franklin Markin I and his sons Allen(d.18 June 1888?) and Wallace(d. 18 Oct 1935) and possibly Charles(d. 3 Dec 1882) are buried at Rolfe.
Janice Hawley Heusinkveld 5 Jul 2001 09:08:43 -0500 (HAWLEY) I forwarded you a copy of information of my great grandfather's pioneering in Pocahontas county, in talking with my father he stated that the trappers shanty is still on the Hawley Home Place and he thought that the original barn is still there. My father is George
Harold Hawley age 87, and is the grandson of the George Hawley who first came to, at that time Laurens Township which is now Marshall Township. George & Mary Hawley are buried at Rolf, Iowa.
