From "The Pioneer History of Pocahontas County, Iowa" by Robert E Flickinger, Pub 1904, pages 474-475 Vit Payer, a native of Bohemia, in the spring of 1876, accompanied by his wife (Mary Brodsky) and family of four children, Frank, Jacob, Anna and Joseph, and Louis Brodsky, a son of his wife, located on Sec 28, Center township. He was a trustee of the township in 1880 and died in 1881. The farm on 320 acres, originally purchased at $5 an acres, is still owned by his wife and children. Frank J Payer (born Iowa 1861) in 1889 married Mary Remesh, who died leaving two children, Frank and Frances. In 1895 he married Rosa Masek. He is the owner of a farm of 160 acres on sec 18, Center township, and was clerk of the twp. 1885-88. Jacob Payer, in 1889, married Julia Shimon, who died in 1891. In 1894, he married another and has a family of two children. He is the owner of a farm of 200 acres on Sec. 28. Anna, 1883 married James W. Eral (See Hames Eral.)
