Submitted by family member: Mona Robinson Posted May 2006 Two Unidentified BikeTourists -- Plymouth Co., Iowa This photo is of two young men who stopped for a night's rest and meal at the Reeves Heritage farm in Plymouth Co. (note the buildings in the background to identify the location) After a good night's rest and hearty country breakfast, the fellows were off to finish their journey. The bicycle-built-for-two is interesting! Posted June 2006 Spring term 1927--Johnson Twp #5 School Teacher: Miss Ferne King, daughter of Warren and Birdie King, of rural Adaville Submitted by Ferne's granddaughter, Linda Ziemann Posted July 2006 Thorvald Kloster family farmhouse group (abt. 1913) pictured:
Front row: Anna "Annie" Cecilia Kloster (later Kunath), Nis "Red" Nielsen Kloster, Niels Andersen Kloster, Edith Karolina Kloster (later Wallinga)
Back row: Elise Nielsine Kloster (later Petersen), Christina Elise Kloster (later Miller), Anna Sophia Nielsen Kloster (mother), Thorvald Kloster (father), Charlotte "Lottie" Marie Kloster (later Andersen). Three more grown children were out on their own. They included Jens Andreas Kloster, Herlig Laurentine Kloster Petersen and Vibeke Helene Laurentine Kloster Nielsen. Family farm location: northwest corner of section 15, Fredonia Township, Plymouth County (northeast of Oyens, Iowa).
For years it was the "gathering place" for the extended family every Sunday after church. If there were visitors in church, Thorvald always invited them to come home with the family to eat dinner--typical Danish hospitality. The Kloster clan shared in the noon meal, but not before Thorvald would lead the the family in the singing of the Danish table prayer. In the afternoon the family played baseball, sang around the piano or played cards.
