Early teacher, L. M. Black, who taught at Elgin Twp Seney school in the early 1870's--obituary posted on the Sioux County IA GenWeb stite; also posting to these pages his bio from the Ireton, Iowa, Centennial Book. This information was submitted by a great grandson, Dean Siders.

Thanks to Bruce Atkinson for the correction on the 8th Grade Graduation program for July 12, 1929.....and Bruce also submitted photo scans of the July 12, 1928, 8th Grade Graduation program. All of this history is so much appreciated! These programs list the names of the 8th grade graduates and the rural school they graduated from.
School teacher obituary is posted--Lucille Bellwood Gale passed away on 07 Dec 2007. The obituary was shared by her son, Jim Gale. Thanks, Jim. Your Mother and so many other teachers like her are sorely missed by all of us who knew them and loved them!

Thanks to Bruce Atkinson for browsing the old news to find these additional sitings of early rural Plymouth county teachers: Elgin Twp news, 16 Mar 1899; Westfield Twp news, 24 Apr 1899; and Stanton No. 6 news, 90 Jan 1899. As a result several more early teacher names have been posted to the Rural Teacher Index.
