George Washington Burrill and Martha (Austin) Burrill taken in LeMars photo date unknown. George and Martha married in 1856, Dubuque, (Dubuque), Iowa where they farmed and all eleven of their children were born. They moved to Johnson Township, (Plymouth), Iowa in 1883 and farmed 160 acres there until retiring in 1902, when they sold the farm and moved to LeMars.

Burrill of Dubuque, Iowa and Martha Austin of Dubuque, Iowa were united by me in the bonds of holy matrimony at Dubuque, Iowa on the 31st day of January in the year of our Lord 1856. In presence of Mr. & Mrs. John Austin and Mr. & Mrs. Geo. Burrill. Signed--Henry Wm. Reed, Elder. (The Mr. and Mrs. George Burrill who were witnesses were George W.'s father and step-mother. The elder Burrills are buried at the Adaville Cemetery.)
