BARR, Carl H., page 177, 102100 Private Company K Killed July 26, 1918 at Chateau Thierry. Buried in Grave No. 1-B, Map at Conde-en-brie. Relative's address, Mrs. S. S. Port, Akron, Iowa. Private Barr was hit in the chest and legs by fragments of high explosive shell while asleep in the "fox hole" that he had dug for his own protection. His death was instantaneous. He had served with the regiment in the Lorraine Sector and at Champagne.
