Memorial Day services honor service men, women
Avenue of Flags at Plymouth County Courthouse Honors 1,127 Veterans
Wasmer Post #241 of the American Legion of LeMars will be conducting its 46th Annual Avenue of Flags Memorial Day Program Monday, May 30, 2011, at the Plymouth County Courthouse. A service will be held at 10 a.m. on the courthouse grounds. A total of 1,127 flags honoring deceased veterans will be flown at the Plymouth County Court House.
LeMars Sentinel, May 31, 2011 Thirty-four new flags were posted on the courthouse lawn in remembrance of loved ones who sacrificed for their country. Those people include: Clark M. Bolser Sr., Ronald H. Burkard, Harold L. Buss, Reinard "Reine" Dreckman, Robert Dyslin Jr., George W. Frerichs, John E. Galles, Robert J. Galles, Ronald R. Hansen, Elmer H. Heien, Virgil T. Hoebelheinrich, Patrick Holton, Merlin Ideker, Pat Kelly, Albert D. Lade, Robert A. Lade, Eugene A. Lee, Wendell J. MaComb, Ronald J. Mullally, Clayton Nemmers, Hilton "Red" Pecks, Gordon D. Phipps, Walter J. Phipps, David R. Rohlfsen, Harley Rollinger, Anthony Ruhland, Franz W. L. Schneider, Kent Schwiesow, Leon L. Steele, James C. VanGronigen, Claude M. Webb, Allen H. Wernli, Richard J. Wolf and Eugene Zimmer. Flags were retired at 1 p.m. Monday due to strong winds. |
