Baack’s tribute to Kunkel continues a tradition by the Post to provide special recognition to those who have died in service to their country.
Three men, E.W. Maser, Donald Ronsiek and Bob Schroeder, will be honored for 50 years of continuous membership in the American Legion. Henry Ahlers will be honored for his 60 years of continuous membership.
An F-16 “Sound of Freedom” flyover by the 132nd Fighter Wing of Des Moines is planned at approximately 10 :38 a.m.
The membership of Wasmer Post wants the program to focus on the basic concept of Memorial Day, remember ing veterans and therefore there will be no speaker so all veterans may be recognized during the flag name reading ceremony.
