Mr.
Errol W. [alter] Allison, age 78,
of Braddyville, IA, died Sun., Feb. 23, at the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital
where he had been admitted the day before.
He
was born Sept. 16, 1918, at Hastings, IA, the son of Walter and Geneva Wood
Allison. He was an upholsterer
and had served in W.W. II. He had lived in Omaha before moving to Braddyville
in 1982.
Survivors
include a son, Walter Lee Allison and wife, Betty, North Platte,
NE, daughter, Donna Elam,
Danville, KY, and three grandchildren. Also surviving are sister, Mrs.
Elaine Donahue, Maryville, MO, Mrs.
Don (Grace) Jandreau, Forsyth,
MT, and Mrs. Frank (Sharon) Weber,
Council Bluffs, IA, and aunt, Mrs. Jack (Blanche) Rouse, Clearmont, MO. He was preceded in death by
parents, brother, Johnnie and
sister, Gladys Bartlett.
Funeral
services were Wed., Feb. 26, at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, with Rev. Joyce
Smith officiating. Military services were at the graveside by Braddyville and
Clarinda American Legion and the VFW. Burial is in the Shearer Cemetery, near
Braddyville, IA.

Funeral
services for Albert Roy Bebout,
72, were held May 11 at Hopkins, Mo. Mr. Bebout died May 8 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Joseph,
Mo. following a brief illness. Interment was in Shearer Cemetery near Hopkins.
Albert
Roy Bebout was born Sept. 7, 1893
at Braddyville, Iowa. He had been a farmer the past 38 years in the Hopkins community.
He
was a member of the Wray Memorial Methodist Church.
He is survived by his
wife; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Birkenholz, Hopkins, and Mrs. Walter Kirschner of Long Beach, Calif.; four sisters; one brother;
and two grandchildren.

at St Joseph
Albert Roy Bebout, 72, died at 4:30 a m Sunday at the Missouri Methodist Hospital in St Joseph, after being hospitalized for four weeks. His home was near Hopkins, Mo, where he had lived for 38 years. He also farmed in the Clarinda and Braddyville vicinities before moving to the farm at Hopkins. Mrs Bebout, the former Mamie Johnson, survives, with two daughters, Mrs Joe (Betty) Birkenholz of Hopkins and Mrs. Walter (Lavon) Kirchner of Long Beach, Calif, and two grandchildren. Sisters are Mrs. Floy Waldroff of Clearmont, Mo, Mrs R H Besco of Albert Lea, Minn, Mrs C A Mann of Ontario, Calif, and Mrs Ed Townsend of Vancouver, Wash. Harold Bebout of Stockton, Calif, is a brother. Roy was son of the late George and Anna Bebout, residents of Braddyville. Funeral services will be at 2 p m Wednesday at Wray Memorial Methodist Church in Hopkins, to be officiated by the Rev Gerald Sappington. Burial will be at Shearer Cemetery near Braddyville. Center, Clarinda, Iowa. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April
29, 2004, at Walker-Merrick of Clarinda, Iowa with Pastor Scott Denham
officiating. There was open visitation at the funeral home. Burial was in
Shearer Cemetery, Braddyville, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Harvest
Fellowship Church Building Fund, Shambaugh, Iowa. Walker-Merrick was in charge
of arrangements.
Edna
Ruth Brenneman was born August 5,
1925, at the family home in Braddyville, Iowa, to Emery Huddle and Goldie (Linebaugh) Huddle. Edna was a graduate of Braddyville High School. Edna
and Orval Brenneman were united
in marriage March 1, 1947 at the Missionary Church Parsonage, Shambaugh, Iowa. Edna was a lifelong member of the Harvest Fellowship
Church, Shambaugh, Iowa. Edna had many interests that she enjoyed. She enjoyed arranging flowers and
landscaping with rocks. She also wrote poetry and enjoyed music. Edna also enjoyed setting trinkets around her home and
liked sparkling prisms in her windows. Edna was always asked to bake her famous angel food
cake for family birthdays.
Preceding Edna in death was her father. Survivors include her
husband Orval Brenneman of Clearmont, Missouri; children: Joy Stanley and husband Paul of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, Jon Brenneman of Shambaugh, Iowa, Kenny Brenneman and wife Kim of Albany, Missouri, Gaylan Brenneman of Clearmont, Missouri; grandchildren: Jennifer
Brenneman and Jill Brenneman; step-grandchildren: Paul Stanley, Jr., Amanda

Orval
Henry Brenneman was born March 1,
1926 at Lewellen, Nebraska to Orval Henry and Rhoda Mae (Sparks) Brenneman. The family moved to Goshen, Indiana where Orval graduated high school. He served in the United
States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. After serving in the Navy
he came to Shambaugh, Iowa. His mother, Rhoda, was there staying with Orval’s sister, Beth, who was married to Rev. Kenneth Miller, the pastor of the Shambaugh Missionary Church.
Through this church connection he met and married Edna Huddle on March 1, 1947 at the Shambaugh Missionary
Church parsonage. Orval and Edna were devoted members of the Shambaugh Missionary
Church now known as Harvest Fellowship.
Orval worked on a dairy farm for a time and at Hope
Hall in the Clarinda Mental Health Institute. He and Edna began farming together with a dairy herd and row
crop. They lived near Braddyville on this farm until Edna’s health failed in
2003 and soon after they resided at Westridge Quality Care in Clarinda.
On
January 24, 2012 Orval, at age
85, was called to his heavenly home. Preceding him were his wife, Edna on April 26, 2004; parents; sister Beth and her husband Rev. Kenneth Miller; sister-in-law Ann Brenneman, brothers-in-law Donald
Hoskins and Sam Shuttlesworth.
Surviving
are his children: Joy Stanley and husband Paul of Lansdale,
PA, sons Jon Brenneman,
Clearmont, MO, Kenny Brenneman and wife Kim of Albany, MO,
and Gaylan Brenneman of
Clearmont, MO; grandchildren Jennifer and Jill Brenneman of St. Joseph, MO; step grandchildren Paul
Stanley, Jr., Amanda Stanley, Christine Stanley, Allison Runnels, Matthew Krieg, and David Zeik; brother Joe Brenneman of Walton, KY; and sisters-in-law Thelma
Hoskins of Shambaugh.

at Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel with interment at Shearer Cemetery. Visitation

Bruns, age 72, of Braddyville,
Iowa, died Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Bryan East Memorial Hospital,

Larry Burns [Bruns] was born July 25, 1931, at Graff, Nebraska, to Elmer
Bruns and Elizabeth (Hippe)
Bruns. Larry was a graduate of
Sheridan, Missouri High School and attended a trade school following high
school. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Larry was united in marriage to Gretchen L.

in the Christian Church, Blockton, Iowa. He was an auto mechanic for Opitz
Motor Company, Clarinda, Iowa, from 1958 until the closing of the business. He
was currently working part time for Tri-Tractor in Clarinda. Larry enjoyed gardening and woodworking and was a very
capable general fix-it-man. Preceding Larry in death were his parents and a brother, Jim
Bruns. Survivors include his wife Gretchen of the home,
daughter, Robin Thomas and
husband Richard of Titonka,
Iowa son, Larry John Burns [Bruns] son, Chris Bruns and wife Nicky of Cedar Rapids, Iowa 10 grandchildren 1 great

Willis Calfee funeral held
Mr.
Willis E. [dmond] Calfee, 75,
died Jan. 28, 1985 at Methodist Medical Center in Omaha following several
months’ illness.
He
was born July 31, 1909 at Elmo, Mo., the son of [John] William and [Sarah] Effie Sloan Calfee.
On
Oct. 4, 1930 he was married to [Alma] Irene Andrews who
survives.
Mr.
Calfee had been employed at MHI
before his retirement.
Besides
his wife of the home he is survived by two children: Mrs. James (Austina)
Spire of Parnell, Mo., and Gary
[Darwin] Calfee of College
Springs. There are 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

M. [ay] Cavner, 51 of Atlantic,
died Thursday, Oct. 5, 1995 at Clarkson Hospital, Omaha, Ne., after several
months of illness.
She
was born March 26, 1944 at Iowa City, the daughter of Roland and Lillian
Cross Simmons. On July 5,1960,
she married Merlyn Cavner, who
survives.
Cavner was employed by Henniningsen Construction as long
as health permitted.
She
is survived by her husband, Merlyn,
of the home; two sons, Merlyn and Sabine Cavner, Jr., Bielefeld,
Germany; Dennis Cavner,
Atlantic; and one grandchild.
Brothers

Dicie
Anna Chestnut [Chesnut], 87, of
Clarinda, died Apr. 14, 1986 at Bethesda Care Center in Clarinda where she had
lived for the past four years. She lived for nearly 60 years on a farm east of
Braddyville.
She
was born June 22, 1898 in Buchanan Township in Page County, the daughter of Robert
and Mary Anna (Laub) Davison.
She
married Ira Chestnut [Chesnut]
on Dec. 24, 1919. During the time the couple lived on a farm near Braddyville,
around 20 schoolteachers boarded with her.
She
was a member of the Methodist Church of Siam while young, and attended the
United Methodist Church of Braddyville in later years.
She
served as a correspondent for the Clarinda Herald Journal for 50 years, until 1979.
She
was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ira, who died on Nov. 21, 1977; and her son, Robert, who died Mar. 20, 1945 while serving with the
U.S. Army in Germany; four sisters, Bertha, Orphy, Dillie and an infant; three brothers, Ora, Rolla and
Wilber.
Survivors
include a daughter, Mrs. Max (Pearl Pauline) Edwards of Council Bluffs, Ia; granddaughters, Mrs.
Stephen (Paula Kaye) O'Neal of
Braddyville and Mrs. Wayne (Robin Joy) Stahlnecker of Council Bluffs; a great-grandson, Aaron
Nicholsen [Nicholson]; three
brothers, Roy, Homer and Virgil Davison, all of Braddyville; and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.

Ira
Milton Chesnut, 82, of Hopkins,
Mo., passed away at his home at about 9 p.m. on Nov. 21.
Chesnut was born April 13, 1895 in Rushville,
Neb. He was married to Dicie [Anna] Davison on Dec. 24, 1919. Chesnut had lived on the same farm for more than 60
years.
Survivors
include his wife Dicie, one daughter, Mrs. Pauline Edwards of Council Bluffs, two grandchildren and one
great grandchild.
He
was preceded in death by a son, Robert Andrew, who was killed in Germany during World War II.
Visitation
is from 7-8 on Wednesday evening for friends and relatives at the Swanson
Funeral Home in Hopkins.

Milton Chesnut, son of Andrew
and Lila Keeler Chesnut, passed
away at his home very suddenly of a heart attack Monday evening, November 21st,
1977 at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 8 days. He was born April 13th, 1895
near Rushville, Nebr. He came to Page County, Iowa at three months of age in a
covered wagon with his parents. He had lived on his present farm over 60 years.
He was married Dec. 24, 1919 to Dicie Anna Davison, who survives. To this union two children were
born, Robert Andrew who
preceded him in death March 20, 1945 while serving in the U.S. Army during
World War II in Germany, and Pearl Pauline Edwards of Council Bluffs, Iowa. He had one sister Pearl
Cleo Waldroff who passed away in
May 1969. He leaves to mourn his death, his loving wife Dicie, one daughter Pearl Pauline Edwards and son-in-law Max, two daughters, Paula Kaye Nicholson and Robin Joy Edwards of Council Bluffs, Iowa, one great grandson, Aaron
Yves Nicholson, and a host of
friends.
He
was a lover of his home and his livestock and was very well liked by all who
knew him. He attended the Methodist Church at Braddyville and was a great lover
of music.

Mrs.
Clark died Saturday afternoon at
Bethesda Care Center where she had been for the past two years.
She
was born Jan. 17, 1907, near Braddyville, the daughter of Clyde Allen and
Grace Lathrop Johnson.
On
March 9, 1927 she was married to Herman [Lawrence] Clark, who preceded her in death Nov. 30, 1966.
Mrs.
Clark is survived by three sons, Elvin of Gravity; Marion of Warrensburg, Mo; and Larry of Braddyville. There are three grandchildren and
one great-grandchild, two step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
Sisters are Ruth Davison of
Clarinda and Lois Smith of
Warrensburg, Mo. and one brother, Robert Johnson of Tygh Valley, Or.
She
was preceded in death by parents, husband, and one brother, Merl Johnson.
Burial
will be in Shearer Cemetery near Braddyville.

Edna
[Pauline] Collins, 81, of Des
Moines, died Sunday morning, June 23, 1996, at the Hospice Kavanaugh House in
Des Moines.
She
was born July 25,1914, near Gravity to Roy and Mabel (Lefever) Harland. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1933.
On March 28, 1934 she was married to Russell Collins. They farmed and raised their family on a farm
south of Siam.
After
her husband died in 1963 she moved to Gravity and lived there until 1983, at
which time she moved to Des Moines to be with family. She had worked at the
Mental Health Institute as a nurse's aide until she retired in the fall of
1976. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant very much to
her. She also loved to garden, raising beautiful flowers and vegetables.
She
is survived by her three children, Robert and wife, Linda, of
Springfield, MO; Kay and
husband, Walt Lame, of Des
Moines; and Gary and wife, Nancy, of Kansas City, MO; 12 grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren; sisters, Pearl Lottridge of Grand Coulee, WA; Neva Robb of Gore, OK; and brother Elvin Harland of Coweta, OK.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, in 1963; her parents; and seven brother and
sisters.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Eickemeyer
Funeral Chapel. Burial was at Shearer Cemetery in Braddyville. Memorials are to the Hospice Kavanaugh
House in Des Moines.

W. Cowger, 81, Clarinda, died Thursday
night at Municipal hospital after a lengthy illness.
He
was born September 5,1908, near Clearmont, Mo., the son of David and Eva
Ackley Cowger. He worked at the
Glenwood State Hospital School for 19 years and retired to Clarinda in 1973.
Survivors

Mrs.
Crawford was born Dec. 2, 1893 in
Buchanan Township, the daughter of Elbert M.[elvin] and Sarah [Phipps] Damewood. She attended school in College Springs and Amity
College. She became a teacher and taught schools near Braddyville, Vandevender
and Hawleyville for 12 years and taught one year in Nebraska.
On
Feb. 27, 1926, she was married to Alfred E. [rvin] Crawford. They farmed in Missouri and Iowa. They lived for
a time in Clarinda, operating a produce station, then moved to a farm they
purchased near New Market and retired to their home in Clarinda in 1956, during
which time they joined the First United Methodist Church, which she attended as
long as health permitted. She served as Sunday school superintendent at
Braddyville for 13 years and was elementary Sunday school superintendent at New
Market for eight years.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1967, three sisters and four
brothers.
Surviving
are a niece, Evelyn Devore of
Loveland, Co, three nephews, Harold Griffith of Kansas City, Eldon Griffith of Fort Morgan, Co., and Perry Griffith of College Springs and a sister-in-law, Neva

Goldenrod Manor Nursing Home where she had been a resident since 1978.
She
was born Aug. 3, 1916, near Clarinda, the daughter of Carl [John Dietrich]
and Lillie [Louise Lisette] Hartstack Wagoner.
She
was baptized Aug. 20, 1916 and confirmed March 24, 1929 at Immanuel Lutheran
Church.
On
Feb. 9, 1939 she was married to Rudolf J. Meier who survives.
Besides
her husband of the home she is survived by three sons, Elwood of Pierce, Ne.; Curtis of Clarinda and Dennis of Villisca. There are five grandchildren, two

Graveside
services for Mrs. Howard (Ruth) Maupin, 78 of Eaton, Co, formerly of Clarinda, will be at 1:30 pm, Saturday
at the Clarinda cemetery with Rev. Martin Miller officiating.
Mrs.
Maupin died Jan. 22, 1985 at
Ebinezer Nursing Home in Brush, Co.
She
was born Dec. 29, 1906 at Clarinda, the daughter of Charles and Martha Hayes
Wynn.
She
was married to Howard Maupin who survives.
Besides
her husband she is survived by a sister, Marie Hobbs of Loveland, Co.
Walker-Merrick

Etta Stone
Mrs.
Etta Mabel Stone, 91, of Stanton,
Iowa formerly of Braddyville died Jan. 18, 1985 at Bergan Mercy Hospital at
Omaha.
She
was born December 25, 1893, at Clearmont, Mo, the daughter of C. [harles] N.
and Susie [Susan Almeda] Davison Kellogg.
She
was married to Clyde [Lester] Stone on Sept. 18, 1921. He died in 1965. Mrs. Stone lived in Braddyville and moved to Stanton in
1980. She has lived there until entering the hospital in Omaha.
Survivors
include two sons, Kenneth Stone of Stanton, Iowa and Stanley Stone of Omaha, Ne. There are five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sisters
are Violet Loy of Winter
Haven, Fl, Mona Keeran of
Arcadia, Ca, Pauline Teuscher of Clearmont, Mo, and Lucille Teuscher of Braddyville, Ia.
Mrs.
Stone was preceded in death by a
daughter-in-law, Myrtle and
sister Lelia Lusk whose
funeral was held this Monday at Clearmont, Mo.
Funeral
services were held this Monday afternoon at the United Methodist Church in
Braddyville with Rev. Fred Malone officiating.
Burial was in the
Braddyville cemetery with Walker-Merrick Funeral home in charge of
arrangements.
