Andersen, Charles "Swede" - Charles "Swede" Andersen age 82 passed away at his home in rural Northboro, Iowa early on Friday morning, April 2, 2010. He is survived by his wife Arlene; children and other relatives.

Charles Wilbur “Swede” Andersen was born on May 27, 1927 in Kiowa, Colorado to Sigrid and Andrew Andersen. He attended Lost School and Kiowa High School in Colorado, then graduated from Northboro High School in Iowa in 1945. After high school, Swede farmed and milked cows with his brother Gordon until he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952. He attended basic training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and served in Honolulu, Hawaii as a member of the Military Police.

After military service, Swede returned to farming and milking 60 head of cows a day. On June 21, 1964 he married Arlene Saye and raised her son Steve as his own. Swede and Arlene had a daughter, Shelley.

Swede’s lifetime passion was farming and raising livestock. He liked to travel, visiting his home counties in Scandinavia, also France, Hawaii, Canada, Alaska and Central America. Swede also enjoyed a good conversation with family and neighbors.

Swede passed away peacefully on his farm on April 2, 2010. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and brother Gordon. Surviving family are his wife, Arlene of Northboro, IA; son Steve, daughter Shelley, daughter-in-law Pam Saye, son-in-law Scott Wedergren, grandchildren Dash and Scarlett Wedergren, all of Omaha, NE; sister Marilyn Hansen of West Des Moines, IA; and nieces and nephews.

Swede lovingly cared for the Walden Grove Cemetery for nearly 25 years, a place where he will now rest. Memorials may be directed to the Walden Grove Cemetery.

Anderson, Buddy Leland "Bud" - Buddy Leland Anderson, the son of Archie C. and Nita (Bradway) Anderson, was born August 26, 1931, in Glenwood, Iowa, and passed away April 13, 2004, at the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa.
The early years of Bud’s life was spent growing up in the Glenwood and Malvern, Iowa area. He received his education at the Peaceville Country School and the Malvern Community Schools. On May 9, 1954, Bud was united in marriage to Frances Shafer and to this union, Michael, Sherrie, Bruce and Brent were born.
As a young man, Bud spent time working for Nelson Dairy in Glenwood and also painting houses. In 1956 he moved his family to Shenandoah where he was employed by the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital from 1956 until his retirement in 1996. After his retirement, he worked part time at HyVee where you were always greeted by his friendly smile.
Bud enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, collecting old toys, having coffee and visits with his friends and eating breakfast at Al’s. He never knew a stranger and always put others ahead of himself. He was a hard worker, and would never ask someone to do something which he wouldn’t do himself. Bud enjoyed sitting on his deck, which his sons built for him, but most of all he loved his family and enjoyed being with them.
Preceding Bud in death were his parents; brothers, Ray, Floyd, Herbert and Bill Anderson; and a sister, Ruth Stacey.
Survivors include his wife, Frances of Shenandoah, Iowa; children and their spouses, Michael and Shelley Anderson, Sherrie Anderson, Bruce and Shelly Anderson, and Brent and Cindy Anderson; brother, Richard Anderson and wife, Mary, of Malvern; sisters, Marie Topp and husband, Orville, of Greenville, Texas and Jane Miller and husband, Lewis, of Wahoo, Nebraska. Also surviving are grandchildren, Kristin Wright, Mitchell and Megan Anderson; great grandchildren, Michaela, Trevor and Alex Wright; step grandchildren, Cathy, Susanne and Rob; and step great grandchildren, Cayley and Cain; plus other relatives and friends.

Anderson, Corinne Emily Bjorkdahl - Corinne Emily Anderson, age 100, the daughter of Carl H. and Emily (Nordquist) Bjorkdahl was born November 29, 1904, in Norsheiping, Sweden, and passed away May 19, 2005, in Shenandoah, Iowa.
In 1911 at the age of 7, Corinne came to the United States with her parents and brothers, Maurice and Thorston. The ship, which they were traveling on followed the same route as the Titanic did one week earlier. Settling in the Chicago, Illinois, area with her family, she started school only being able to speak Swedish. When Corrine was 18 her mother passed away so she continued to care for her father from that time on.
Following graduation from high school she was employed as a bookkeeper for the Lind Hardware Company until she met David Anderson who was managing a Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store. They became engaged on July 12, 1928, and were united in marriage on September 25, 1928, at the Edgewater Covenant Church in Chicago, Illinois. To this union David, Jr. and Nancy were born.
After living for one year in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where they were involved with the family owning and operating a picture frame factory, they moved to Evanston, Illinois. There they learned the laundry business and later bought the Davis Cleaners. In 1949 they made a major move in their lives by moving to the “home place” near Nyman, Iowa. Moving to the farm after living in the big city area of Chicago most of her previous life was quite a change.
Corinne was an active member of the Fremont Covenant Church until its closure and then became a member of the Faith Covenant Church in Essex, Iowa, where she was active in the Covenant Women’s Association and served as a Deaconess. She loved to read and read through the Bible twice. She also was a member of the Nyman Birthday Club.
Baking was an enjoyment for Corinne especially Swedish coffee cakes and Spritz cookies. Her family looked forward to eating her Pepperkoker cookies and Gingerbread men, which she hung on the Christmas tree.
Preceding Corinne in death were her parents; husband David in 1987; and brothers, Maurice and Thorsten Bjorkdahl.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David, Jr. and Carole Anderson of Shenandoah; and daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Darold Lundgren of Omaha, Nebraska. Also surviving are granddaughters, Nanette Anderson of Lenexa, Kansas, Charla Baker and husband, Clifford, of Essex, Lisa Bever and husband, Al, of Overland Park, Kansas; and Lynette Olsen and husband, Matt, of Omaha, Nebraska; plus other relatives and friends.

Burial in Mt Hope Cemetery, Nyman, Iowa.


Anderson, Doris Evelyn Andrew - Doris Evelyn Andrew was born November 9, 1927 near Guss, Iowa, to Ralph Palmer and Vivian Matilda (McCoy) Andrew. Doris attended country school and graduated from Bedford High School in 1947. She taught country school for five years near Gravity, Iowa, before marrying Dale M. Anderson on June 17, 1951, at the New Market United Methodist Church. They farmed north of New Market until 1960 when they moved to Logan, Iowa, where Dale started in the banking business. Dale took a job at Farmers Savings Bank in Martelle, Iowa in 1963. Martelle became their home for the next 43 years. Doris joined the bank working as a teller and bookkeeper until their joint retirement in 1993. After Doris suffered a stroke in 2004, she and Dale moved to Kingswood Senior Living Center in Kansas City, Missouri, where they were living when she passed away on January 30, 2009.
Doris was always active in community organizations and the United Methodist Church. Starting in her younger years 4-H was a major focus and love, which continued as a 4-H leader for her daughter Denean. Until her death, Doris maintained a great friendship with her high school classmates from Bedford. She was active in the Guss, New Market, Logan and Martelle United Methodist Churches, was a 50+ year member of Eastern Star, member of PEO, Century Club, Jones County Cancer Society, Jones County Tourism, Martelle Senior Center, and supported numerous community events. She and Dale were avid Hawkeye football and basketball fans traveling as far as Alaska and Hawaii to watch their team.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Adrian Andrew. Doris is survived by her husband, Dale, of Kansas City, Missouri; daughter Denean V. Smith and husband Mark of De Pere, Wisconsin; son Dean A. Anderson and wife Marcia of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren Kristin Smith, Kansas City, MO, Sarah Smith, Milwaukee, WI, and Katie Anderson, Overland Park, KS; sister-in-law Vesta Andrew of Clarinda, IA; nephews Laurence and Warren Andrew; sister in-laws Lois Garrett (Kenneth), Clarinda, IA, and Elynor Kerr, Leesburg, VA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews from the Andrew, Anderson and McCoy families.
Doris was a community focused, selfless person that encouraged and instilled values in others, especially youth, to do what is right. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at Noon Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, with Pastor Jon Moss officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 2nd, and again Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service. A memorial service will also be held at Kingswood Senior Care Center, Kansas City, MO, at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4th. Her family wishes to thank both the Jones Regional Medical Center and Kingswood doctors and staff for their excellent support and care over the last four years. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Martelle United Methodist Church, Martelle Senior Center, Jones Regional Medical Center (Anamosa, IA), or the charity of choice. Interment will be at Memory Cemetery, New Market, IA.




Anderson, Jean E. - Jean E. Anderson, 78, a resident of Goldenrod Manor in Clarinda, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, at Goldenrod Manor following a long illness.
Services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Jim Langley of Westminster Presbyterian Church officiated. Burial was in the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include five daughters: Judy Cain of Tamms, Ill., Mary Hargrafen of Fairfax, Mo., Maggie Nordland of Clarinda, Iowa, Barbara Randles of Richmond, Texas, and Kathy Emmert of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three sisters, Janet Nix of Olive Branch, Ill., Jo Sue of Columbus, Ohio, and Ellen O’Neil of Naperville, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Bill and David Everett; and a sister, Mary Friedman.
Jean was born May 29, 1930, in Drostat, Mo., to Dave and Gertrude McClure Everett. She married John W. (Jack) Anderson on January 25, 1969, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 2004. Jean was employed by the Cedar Rapids Community Schools in food services. She had also been employed at Turner Microphone and Russell Guides. She was one of the original female members of the Cedar Rapids Police Department in the 1950s. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed doing crafts and spending time with her family and friends.

Anderson, Joanna Marie Christianson - Joanna Marie (Christianson) Anderson, daughter of Robert and Joan Christianson was born on April 28, 1958 in Shenandoah, Iowa. She passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009, following a courageous battle with cancer at her home in Shenandoah. She attained the age of 50 years, 9 months and 22 days.
Growing up in Shenandoah, Joanna attended the Shenandoah Community Schools, graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1976. On August 21, 1976, Joanna was united in marriage to Gary Anderson of Northboro. They were blessed with two children, Jay Dean and Valerie Ann and three granddaughters, Paige Nicole, Brooklyn Marie and Joslyn Jo Ann.
Joanna worked for Lloyd Laboratory in Shenandoah from 1992 through November 2008. She was a very caring and loving wife, mother and daughter. She had many, many friends.
Preceding Joanna in death were her sister, Debra Kay Christianson; grandparents, Bonnie Schwartz, Beryl Christianson, and Sheldon and Lenny Christianson; and mother-in-law, Joan Anderson Brooks.
Survivors include her husband of over 32 years, Gary Anderson and their children, Jay Anderson and his wife Julie and Valerie and her significant other, Jim Bates, and three granddaughters, Paige Nicole, Brooklyn Marie, Joslyn Jo Ann, all of Shenandoah. Also surviving are her parents, Robert and Joan Christianson of Shenandoah; brother, Bobby Christianson and his wife Freida and their sons, Nathaniel and Nicolas of Chandler, AZ, brother, Mark Christianson and his wife Michelle and their children Blake and Lauren of Manson, IA; and brother-in-law Terry Anderson and his wife Kathy of Coin, IA and their son Robert and his wife Bridget and their children Braydon and Keegan. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Joanna was on earth for such a short time but still lives in our hearts and memories forever. A memorial has been established in Joanna's name to the Nishna Valley Christian Church.
Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Shenandoah, Iowa with Rev. Jack Langley from the Nishna Valley Christian Church officiating. Attending to the memorial registers were Deb Potter and Carol Herold. Caring for flowers were Marsha Brink, Patty Hascall and Laura Ward. Serving as ushers were Blake Christenson, Nick Christenson and Nate Christenson. Special music for the services included the recordings of "Angel Eyes", "In The Arms of An Angel", "Remember When" and "On The Edge". Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery. A luncheon was served at the Nishna Valley Christian Church.



 

Anderson, Kelly Anne Green - Kelly Anne Anderson, 41, of Lincoln passed away Mar. 5, 2009. She was born Sept. 28, 1967 in Chadron, NE to Marlin & Judi Green. Attended school and graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1985, she then went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska in 1989. Kelly taught school in the Lincoln Public Schools for 20 yrs. teaching at Pershing & Arnold Elementary Schools.

Anderson, Kenneth P. "Ted" - Kenneth P. "Ted" Anderson, 82, of Shenandoah, Iowa, passed away June 12, 2003, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Kenneth Paul “Ted” Anderson, Sr., the son of Carl and Anna (Peterson) Anderson, was born on June 5, 1921, in Hawthorne, Iowa, and passed away June 12, 2003, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the youngest of 11 children.
Growing up in Red Oak, Iowa, Ted received his education in the Red Oak school system graduating from high school in 1940. As a young man, Ted worked for Edsen Ford in Shenandoah, Iowa, and then drove a parts truck for Rose Auto Parts in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Later he was employed at Smith Ford in Garden Grove, CA and often told about his time picking potatoes and threshing grain in South Dakota. On November 10, 1951 he was united in marriage to Kay Wyckoff and to this union, Mike and Ken were born.
From 1961 to 1969, Ted and his brother, Pinky, owned and operated the Anderson Bros Ford in Shenandoah. He then became a sales representative for Farmaster until his retirement in 1982. During these years he acquired many customers who became his friends.
Ted was a little league coach, a member of Shenandoah Elks Lodge #1122 for 46 years, and a member of the Mustangs Booster Club. He was a Ford corporate sponsor for Punt, Pass and Kick, and an active member of the Nishna Valley Café Coffee Club.
Number one in Ted’s life was his family. He enjoyed his home, gardening, doing yard work and reading. He collected antiques and often would be seen checking out area yard sales. He was known for his story telling, ribbing Nebraska fans and listening to Big Band Music.
Preceding Ted in death were his parents and 10 brothers and sisters, Lillian Falk, Elsie Howard, Edith Johnson, Inez Foster, Vernon Anderson, Fern Nazarene, Ernest Anderson, Elmer Anderson, Pinky Anderson, Leona Josephson.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Anderson of Shenandoah and his sons, Mike Anderson and wife, Sherry, of Walthill, Nebraska and Dr. Ken Anderson and friend Rebecca Smith of Granger, Indiana. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Jeff, Jake, Josh, Jennifer, Cassie and Zach Anderson and Michael and Tim Stanek, plus several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Memorials may be directed to the Shenandoah Public Library or to the American Diabetes Association.

Anderson, Lois Louise - Lois Louise Anderson was born September 12, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa to Clarence and Hannah (Sidell) Anderson.
At a young age Lois went to live at the Glenwood State School in Glenwood, Iowa.
Lois was a dedicated employee at the Page County Home, Clarinda, Iowa for many years. She was a nursing assistant. Lois enjoyed working crossword puzzles, basket weaving, shopping and especially Elvis Presley. Something that Lois looked forward to with great pleasure was an outing with her sister Nora. Every Monday Lois and Nora ate a meal together at Vaughn’s Restaurant in Clarinda. Lois’ gentle personality and companionship will be missed by her family and friends that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Lois passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 at Westridge Quality Care & Rehab in Clarinda, Iowa. Lois was preceded in death in death by a brother, Art Anderson and an infant sister. Surviving family members include her sister Nora Anderson of Clarinda, Iowa and her brother Harold Anderson of Clinton, Iowa.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 19, 2008 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, with Pastor Tom Swafford officiating. Interment was at Clarinda Cemetery.The Tradition of Walker-Merrick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Anderson, Lowell Kermit - Lowell Kermit Anderson, son of Albert Edward and Claudia Elizabeth (Morton) Anderson, was born on July 29, 1913, in rural Coin, Iowa, on the family farm. He passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2007, in Shenandoah, Iowa, at the age of 94.

His early life growing up was spent on the home place farm where he was born. Lowell started first grade in College Springs and graduated from Amity High School in College Springs with the Class of 1930. After graduating at the age of 16, and taking one year of post secondary work in business, Lowell and his friends traveled widely throughout the West and Midwest.

On January 18, 1939, Lowell was united in marriage to Ruth Marie Grafft in the College Springs Presbyterian Church parsonage. Following their marriage they farmed in Colfax Township of Page County. Lowell was a lifelong farmer. He especially took great interest and care in the raising of his livestock. Farming was a lifelong passion for him.

Lowell joined the College Springs Presbyterian Church at the age of twelve. He rode his horse to the church to become a member. He served as a Trustee and Elder in the church for many years. He also served on the College Springs Consolidated Schools Board and the South Page Community School Board. He was a member of the Iowa Farm Bureau. In addition to farming, Lowell took great interest in his family and their activities. He enjoyed traveling and keeping up on the local and world news. Reading on a daily basis kept him well informed on his various interests.

Preceding Lowell in death were his father, A. E. Anderson (born in Australia); mother, Claudia Morton Anderson; sister, Gladys Bair; brother-in-law, Arthur Bair; nephew, Lowell Bair; and granddaughter, Susan Barlow. He is survived by his wife of over 68 years, Ruth Marie Grafft Anderson. Their legacy includes their seven children and 43 grandchildren: Judith Marie Nelson of Lake Barrington, IL, and her two children, Samuel Peter Nelson and Melinda Sue Nelson and her children, Cassidy and Reese Axtman and Willow Ruth Nelson; Joyce Irene Richardson of Cameron, MO, and her children, Donald Lowell Richardson and wife Joetta, Darien Richardson and wife Chontel and their children Cameron and Marissa, Krista Helton and husband Jim and their children Jared and Josh Thompson; Linda Kay Meyer and husband Keith of Shenandoah, IA, and children, Lisa Carlson and husband Terry and their children Jenna and Jaimee Carlson, Craig Barlow, Chad Anderson Barlow and daughter Chelsey Barlow; David Bruce Anderson and wife Jenell of Coin, IA, their children, Lee Anderson and wife Leeann and their children Evan and Maia Anderson, Lori Anderson and her children Claire and Elijah Wood; Paul Kermit Anderson and wife Karen of Coin, IA, their children Matthew Anderson and wife Kerri and their children Madalynn and Anna, Mark and Meridith Anderson and their children Emma and Graeme Anderson, Eric and Dawn Anderson and their children, Emily and Elijah Anderson, Kristin and Dustin Fast and their son, Cody Fast, Jill and John King and their children, Nathan and Callie King; Ellen Sue Jeselnik and husband Burke of Kansas City, MO, and their children, Katrina Elizabeth Jeselnik and Ryan Joseph Jeselnik; Lucinda Jane Goudie and husband Steve of Topeka, KS, and their children, Patrick Allen Petry and wife Melissa and their children, Zachary and Logan Petry, Amy Lucinda Petry and Brenda McCarty; cousins, Taffy Morton and Mary Lou Knepper; other relatives and friends.

Celebration of life memorial services were held on Friday, September 14, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the College Springs United Presbyterian Church in College Springs, Iowa. Words of comfort were given by the Rev. James Crapson and Rev. Allan Bash. Organist was Darla Burch. The congregation sang "The Old Rugged Cross", "Blessed Assurance" and "Precious Lord Take My Hand". Special organ music was "Amazing Grace". Caring for the flowers were Audrey Bair and Charlotte Hiedelberger. Attending the memory register were Ellen McClure ane Marie Van Fosson. Ushers were Randy Bair and Joe Farquhar. Honorary bearers were all of Lowell's grandsons and granddaughters. Private inurnment was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Coin, Iowa. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are being directed to the College Springs Fire and Rescue or to the College Springs Presbyterian Church.


 


Annan, Dennis Gene - Dennis Gene Annan, the son of Quentin Lee and Bonnie Marie (Gauvreau) Annan was born September 20, 1949, in Clarinda, Iowa. He peacefully passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, in the company of family and friends.
Denny was raised in Iowa, living in Ames, Sidney, and Atlantic, where he graduated from Atlantic High School in 1967. He served in the Army from 1968 to 1971. While stationed in Germany, he volunteered for and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. After his discharge from the Army, Denny lived in Denver, Colorado, before returning to Atlantic.
He was united in marriage to Rose Marie Govig on October 17, 1981. Two children were born to this union, Amanda and Alexander.
Denny was employed at Glacier/Mahle for 25 years before taking a leave of absence due to health concerns. In earlier years, he worked in construction and for Lloyd & Meredith.
Denny had many loves in his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, cooking, gardening and spending time with his family. He held a deep appreciation and love for animals, and had many wonderful furry companions in his life. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and was a member of ABATE of Iowa. Denny had a wonderful sense of humor and his distinctive laugh will be greatly missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his father, Quentin Annan; his grandparents, John and Mabel Gauvreau, and Claude and Norma Annan.
Denny is survived by his children, Amanda (Andrew) Freeman of San Diego, Calif., and Alexander Annan of Sioux City, Iowa; his mother, Bonnie Cranston of Mississippi; his fiancé, Rhoda Kuhns of Atlantic, Iowa; his sisters, Marcia (Duane) Hockenberry of Anita, Iowa, Tammy Lett of Mississippi, Sherry Cranston of Atlantic, Iowa, Janice Annan of Oklahoma, Julie (Chris) Cox of Boone, Iowa; and his brother, Mike Annan of Charlotte, N.C.; his aunt, Val Hatcher of Mississippi; his uncles, Norman (Joy) Annan and Barry (Sharon) Annan all of Omaha, Neb.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, April 9, 2009, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic.
Memorial services were held on Friday, April 10, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
A private family burial of cremated remains will take place in the Clarinda Cemetery.

Annan, Melvin "Mick" - Funeral services for Melvin “Mick” Annan, age 91 of Coin, Iowa, who died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Shenandoah, Iowa, were held Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Reverend James Buckhahn officiating. Visitation with the family was held 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2009. Burial was in the Polsley Cemetery, rural Yorktown, Iowa. Memorials can be directed to the Page County 4-H Endowment fund or to the Polsley Cemetery. Melvin “Mick” Annan was born January 8, 1918, in Yorktown, Iowa, the son of Earl Annan and Nina (Loy) Annan. He was one of four children raised on the family farm east of Yorktown. He attended Yorktown Public School through the eleventh grand and graduated with the Clarinda High School class of 1935. He enjoyed 4-H, the Rural Young People’s organization, and was a member of the Yorktown Methodist Church. In 1942, Mick was drafted into the United States Coast Guard and was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for three years, three months, fourteen days. He kept close contact with many of his service buddies over the years. He was untied in marriage July 8, 1943 to Agnes (Peggy) Harrison of Tabor, Iowa.
Mick loved the land and his livestock and took pride in farming his entire life. He was awarded Honorary Farmer for his contributions to the South Page FFA Chapter. During the late 1940’s and 1950’s Mick followed the harvest combining wheat from Oklahoma to North Dakota. For many years he also drove a stock truck. Mick loved company—especially during the last few years when family and friends came to play pitch.
Preceding Mick in death were his parents; daughter, Maribeth Mellencamp; daughter-in-law, Vicki (Carlberg) Annan; son-in-law, Joel Wagoner; brother, George and wife Elsie Annan; sister, Irene Moore and Rex Moore; brothers-in-law, Jim Steigerwald and Bryce Harrison.
Mick is survived by Peggy, his wife of 65 years; sons, Bill and wife Sara of Shenandoah, George of Coin; daughter, Nancy Wagoner of Clarinda; son-in-law, Merle Mellencamp of Clarinda; grandchildren, Jeff and wife Stephanie Barlow of New Providence, New Jersey, Steven and wife Julie Mellencamp of Chicago, Illinois, Ashley Mellencamp of St. Petersburg, Florida, Anne and Elizabeth Wagoner, Maria and Mitchell Annan; great-grandchildren, Megan and Matt Barlow, Victoria Beth Mellencamp; sister, Fern Steigerwald of Fall Brook, California; sister-in-law, Dorothy Harrison of Tabor; and brother-in-law, Carlos Harrison of Shenandoah; nieces, nephews and many friends.
