His parents moved often as George farmed for others. Glenn was always pointing out places where he had lived. He attended school in Siam and Bedford and lettered in football at Bedford High.

Glenn worked many jobs, starting from an early age. This is why he could fix anything later in life. Prior to joining the Navy he worked for Parris & Dunn Company making training rifles for the armed forces. From 1944-1946, he served in the Navy on USS LST's.

After the war, he worked on many jobs and met Doris Thompson and they were married July 10, 1947 in Bentonville, Arkansas. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage. Once they were settled in Clarinda, Glenn became Mr. Fix It and The Good Neighbor. People brought all sorts of electrical appliances for repair. In 1963, Glenn took his family to California for vacation but he had other plans as well. He had worked for the county for many years and went to Lisle's but he was not a factory kind of guy. In California he put his Mr. Fix It to work. He went to work for the local school district and worked his way up to becoming the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds.

Glenn again made many friends with the neighbors. At his retirement after 25 years of service to the school district, he was referred to as a gentleman in the classical sense of the word. Glenn was a caring person who did the impossible as if it were simple and routine. He was always honest and diligent and wanted things done right. Settling in Cottonwood, Ariz., he cared for the couple across the street to their deaths.

Glenn loved sports and always watched football and golf on T.V. He and Doris played golf and bowled together. They loved to travel in the motor home and loved camping with friends and relatives. Glenn would know everyone in the park before he left. Glenn and Doris cared for those around them and had friendships all over the United States and Canada.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Gray of Clarinda, Iowa; son, Ray Estel Gray of Canyon County, Calif.; granddaughter, Melinda Jean Gray of Canyon County, Calif.; sister, Fern Jones and husband Harry of Dickinson, Tex.; nieces, nephews and many friends.
