Pictures of Moneta School Jan. 2018
The population of the town decreased. Due to reduced
enrollment, Moneta High School's last graduating class
was in 1959. The school district was divided between
Hartley and Everly. Everly and Moneta consolidated and
it became a grade school for grades 4 thru 6.
Moneta Consolidated School District ceased to exist July 1,
1961. and the Moneta School closed in May, 1976.
It was sold a few months later to Virgil and Kathy
Schmeling, who made it their home. The property was sold
again
in April, 2017, and fell into disrepair. In 2019
a fire near the school started the roof on fire.
Part of the roof was removed in the locker room to put
out the fire. In 2020 the Moneta School was torn down.
Now the school is nothing but a memory
