PAULLINA, Iowa — Robert Lee Soukup, 74, of Paullina died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at Orange City (Iowa) Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, with the Rev. Donald Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina.
Mr. Soukup was born July 24, 1925, in Remsen, Iowa, the son of John and Cecila (Billings) Soukup. He attended country schools in the Remsen area. In 1950, he moved with his family to a farm near Paullina. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1955 to 1957.
He married Dorothy McCauley on Feb. 14, 1954, in Harris, Iowa. Following his discharge, he ran the family farm. The couple moved into Paullina in 1994 and he retired from farming in 1998.
He attended First Presbyterian Church and was a former member of O'Brien County R.E.C. board. He enjoyed collecting miniature cars and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Rob of Paullina; and a sister, Helen Thorns of Le Mars, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
