HOUSES BUILT BY CONTRACTORS Chas. Crisman, a contractor, built the following houses : he first remodeled a house at the corner of 3rd and Locust, recently purchased by Martin Hansen for a home. The he built the house on the corner of 6th and Locust, now owned by August Bangert. Then the house on the south side of 6th Street, just east of Bangert's now owned by M. B. Nelson. Then the house on the corner of Wate and Locust Streets, now owned by John Bolly. Then the house on the corner of Wate and Cypress, now owned by Jake Frymoyer. Then the house on the corner of 6th and Locust Streets, now owned by J. R. Dose. Mr. Crisman has passed on to his reward.
R. D. Wilkerson became a resident of Wilton in the year 1909. Being a contractor he built quite a few houses. He first built the house on the corner of Rose and Maurer Streets. This now the home of Emil Schroeder. He then built the house on the corner of Rose and Chestnut, this is now the home of Dr. G. A. Whetstine. Then the house on the corner of Summit and Chestnut, now occupied by Elmer Swanson. He then built the house just south of Elmer Swanson on Chestnut now occupied by Jacob Duffe. He then built the house just south of the house occupied by Jacob Duffe, occupied by L. M. Hatfield. He then bought the property at the corner of 5th and Cedar, and has made a modern home out of it, he resides there. Mr. Wilkerson is quite a hustler.
L. O. Stutler came to Wilton in the early days. As a young man he never was idle. He always found something to do, so he built some houses. The first house he built was on the corner of 5th and Walnut. This house he sold toTheodore Port for a home. This house is now owned by Mrs. Rose Ford, as her home. The next house he built on the corner of 5th and Cypress, this house is now owned and occupied by Thos. Owens family. He then built a house on the south side of East 6th Street which he occupied until he moved to Kansas. This house is now owned and occupied by J. J. Hoskins.
Martin Baker built the house on the corner of 3rd and Cypress now owned by Chas. Bailey, occupied by Frank Darting. He also built the house on the corner of Summit and Chestnut Streets, now owned and occupied by S. L. Torrence.
