THE OLD SETTLERS (1875)

A Reunion to be held at the Court House, Feb. 5th


At a meeting in the Mayor’s office, Jan. 16th, pursuant to call in the papers, J. P. Walton was called to the chair and John Mahin was chosen Secretary.

Mr. Van Horne, at the request of the chair, stated the object of the meeting to be to make arrangements for re-organizing the Old Settlers Society and have a social reunion of the early residents of the county.

It was resolved to have a reunion the first Friday in February at the Court House, commencing at 2 p. m.

It was also resolved that Messrs. Van Horne, Walton and R. Cadle be appointed a committee to select speakers and make general arrangements for the reunion.

The following committee on basket supper was appointed: Wm. Gordon, Mrs. J. B. Dougherty, Mrs. C. Cadle and Mrs. W. M. Kennedy.

D. C. Richman and Julius Molis were appointed committee on music.

On motion of Suel Foster, all the old settlers of the county (those who settled in Iowa before and including the year 1846) be invited to participate in the reunion.

The committee on basket supper are requested to meet at Mrs. Dougherty’s next Friday (22d) at 2 o’clock.
