Mrs. W. H. STEWART
DIED

May 18, 1874 (hand-written)

----------------(missing line)-- Fourth Street, of typhoid fever and erysipelas , May 17, at 1 ˝ o’clock , Mrs., wife of W. H. STEWART. Aged, 50 years, 5 mo. Funeral from the family residence at 3 o’clock this afternoon. All friends of the family are invited to attend.

And yet another example of the uncertainty of time and the proximity of death. But a few days since she was in her usual health; later complaining of a slight cold; until Friday night, when fever set in, accompanied by crysipelas, rendering her entirely unconscious, in which state she continued to her death. All who had even a slight acquaintance with her, join the general mourning. Her sphere was in the home circle, over which her motherly care, love and tenderness was constantly shed, reflecting an example of strict adherence to duty and principle and demonstrating that the highest happiness in this life is found in living for others. Death but transferred her from this scene of sorrow and bereavement to the realization of earth’s highest hopes, where she awaits the arrival of her loved ones.
