Matter from Sunday’s Daily:
DEMISE OF MRS. W. FREDERICKSAfter weary weeks of distress patiently borne by the sorely tired and venerable Mrs. Wilhelmina Fredericks, she departed this life at 5:10 o’clock yesterday afternoon, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. A. Kleinfelder, over 211 Iowa avenue.
The passing of this nonagenarian removes one of the oldest residents of the community. Wilhelmina Bodman first beheld the light of day in the kingdom of Hanover, Germany, on September 18th, 1818. She grew to young womanhood there and was united in marriage there to the Mr. Fredericks, who died about thirty years ago. Coming to America they located in Muscatine, then known as Bloomington, in 1846, and here decedent had resided continuously ever since.
Mrs. Fredericks’ death was due to general debility, superinduced by an injury sustained last October, when she fell and severely injured her hip, confining her to bed ever since. Though in her 84th year, the aged sufferer endured great pain with marked fortitude, yet the parting was not an unwelcome release.
Three children mourn the closing of this long, useful and good life of their kind old mother, they being Mrs. Bertha Schermer, Mrs. Minnie Wilmering and Mrs. Mary Kleinfelder. Nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Religiously she was a life-long, consistent and devoted member of the Catholic church.
The funeral will take place from St. Mary’s church Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock.

Mrs. Wilhelmina Fredericks.
The death of Mrs. Wilhelmina Fredericks occurred shortly after 5 o’clock on Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. A. Kleinfelder, over 211 Iowa avenue. She has been sick for many weeks, and being an old lady in her 84th years, was quite feeble. The death of Mrs. Fredericks removes from the community one of its oldest residents.
Wilhelmina Bodman was born at Hanover, Germany, on September 18, 1818. She grew to young womanhood there, and was united in marriage there to the late Mr. Fredericks, who passed away about thirty years ago. Coming to America they located in this city, then known as Bloomington in 1846, and she has been a resident of this city ever since.
Her death was due to general debility, but was perhaps somewhat hastened by an injury she received last fall, when she fell and suffered a severe injury to her hip, which has confined her to her bed ever since. She bore her suffering with remarkable fortitude. She is mourned by three children, Mrs. Bertha Schermer, Mrs. Minnie Wilmering and Mrs. Mary Kleinfelder, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She has always been a devoted and lifelong member of the Catholic church.
The funeral will take place from St. Mary’s church Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock.
