DEATH OF EDWARD MAHER.
Died at Wyoming Hill Home and Funeral to Be Here Thursday.

From Tuesday’s Daily.--- Another of the old residents of this county was called from the activities of life to the rest of death Monday afternoon when Edward Maher passed peacefully away at his home at Wyoming Hill. He was sitting in his chair at the time and though advanced in years did not expect the summons so soon. An attack of heart failure came and in a short time he was dead. His last moments were passed on the farm which had been the scene of his life work for almost a half century.

He was born in Waterford, Ireland, May 19, 1821, and came to America in 1852. The year following he married Miss May Wise in Philadelphia and in the same year came to Muscatine. Three years later he located at Wyoming hill on the place still owned by him at the time of death. In 1869 his wife died. Since that time he has remained single. To them were born six children: Mary Peters, Mariaville, Nebraska; John, of Washington; James, Folsom, California; Edward D., Peter W. and Thomas F., of Musatine.

The deceased was a member of the Catholic church and from his long residence in this county was well known and highly respected. The funeral will be held from the residence of his son Thomas F., 408 West 8th street in this city Thursday morning at 9:00 o’clock. Rev. Father Laurent will be in charge and from the house the remains will be taken to St. Matthias church and interment will be made in the Catholic cemetery.
