JACOB LIEBRAND PASSES AWAY.
Jan 12, 1900 (hand written)

The many friend of Jacob Liebrand will be pained to learn of his sudent death, which occurred this morning at the residence of his son, John, at the corner of Fourth and Chestnut streets. Mr. Liebrand had not been ailing and the death was most unexpected. This morning he was busy about the house doing little odd jobs that he found to do, and seemed to be in the best of health and spirits, save for a slight pain in his left arm and leg. He said he had not slept very well last night and that was the only remark that he made about his not feeling well all morning. At about 10 o’clock he left the home of Mrs. Harbaugh and stepped across the yard to the home of his son, to rest, as was his custom and when Mr. John Leibrand came home from his work at noon he found his father lying upon the bed deep in the sleep that knoweth no awakening.

The physician pronounced the death due to heart trouble.

The deceased was well-known in Muscatine, having lived in this city for over forty years. The bereaved family have the sympathy of a host of friends and acquaintances, both in and out of the city.

The funeral announcement will be made later.
