DEATH OF DR. HOFFMEYER.
January 7, 1899 (hand written)

The medical fraternity is minus one of its members in the death of Dr. Frank B. Hoffmeyer, who departed this life suddenly at 6:30 o’clock this morning, plunging those near and ear to him into grief most poignant. The doctor had been afflicted with a cold since Christmas, but had been confined to the sick chamber only since last Monday. Tonsilar abscesses developed, and were the cause of his death. Dr. Hoffmeyer was a native of Muscatine county, having seen the light of day in Lake township on January 7, 1860, his death occurring on his 39th birthday anniversary. The doctor graduated from the Bennett College of Eclectic Medicine and Surgery in the class of 1889, and located in this city, where he acquired quite a practice. His mother, four brothers and four sisters survive, the latter being Mrs. McCoy, Mrs. Ella Hitchcock, Misses Lou and Edith Hoffmeyer, and George, Henry and Bart Hoffmeyer of this place, and Will of Sioux City.

The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock and will be in charge of the Knights of Pythias.
