GONE TO THE GREAT BEYOND
Feb 10, 1898 (hand written)

Mrs. Nancy Walters was laid to rest yesterday, the funeral taking place from the residence on Brook street, East Hill, the service being conducted by the Rev. Mr. Paget. Her many friends mourn her departure and will miss her welcome voice and smiling face. She was a good neighbor, always ready and willing to help anyone in trouble and need. Her family have the sympathy of the entire community. Five children survive, three boys and two girls, they being Frank, Gerald and Mrs. Will Cemmer of this city, and Mrs. Charles Payne of Burlington, and Steve of Moline. Also, a grandson and daughter, Fred and Lucille, whom she also raised from childhood, she being one of our oldest settlers. She and her husband moved here when there were but very few inhabitants here.

Peaceful be thy silent slumbers,
Peaceful in thy grave so low,
Thou no more will join our numbers,
Thou no more our sorrow know.

Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day of life is fled,
And in heaven with joy to greet thee,
Where no farewell tears are shed.
