DIED

JOSEPH ANDREW PEARSON was born on a farm near Dayton, Ohio, on May 14, 1822, and grew to manhood in his native place. He came to Muscatine in 1856 and for years was engaged in conducting a meat market, at various times having been connected with Joe Barrick and Ga. Bitzer in the business, though of late he had been leading a retired life.

Deceased was twice married, his first wife, Jane Taylor, passing away in Ohio. His second union was with Charlotte Weaver, who departed this life February 17, 1879. Five children survive, the two elder being the issue of the first marriage, they being Mrs. Mary Hickerson and Mrs. Lora E. Eckman, of Ohio; Laura Belle, wife of L. Golden, of Spartansburg, Pa.; Jos. Grant Pearson, of Colorado Springs, and F.E. Pearson, of this city.

The funeral will take place at 2 o’clock to-morrow (Sunday) afternoon, from the residence of Henry Gurtner, 24 Sherman street, East Hill.-- June 25 1897 (hand written)
