OBITUARY

ELIZABETH HERSHEY GREINER was born in Marletta, Lancaster county, Pa., October 11, 1828, and died at her home in Muscatine county, Iowa, May 12, 1897, aged 73 years, 7 months and 29 days. She was a sister of Dr. C. Hershey, deceased, and wife of the late Jeremiah Greiner.

Mrs. Greiner came to Iowa in the year 1854 and lived in Muscatine county until her death. She was the mother of six children, five of whom are left to mourn her loss. The names of those living are: Benjamin, William, Christian, Abraham and Elizabeth. They have the sympathy of all in their deep sorrow.

Mrs. Greiner was a member of the church of the United Brethren in Christ since her youth and lived a Christian life always exhibiting a sublime faith in her Savior. For more than a year she had been failing in health, and finally succumbed to the inevitable and the liver cord was loosed and the golden bowl was broken. She was a patient sufferer and bore her affliction with Christian fortitude. She was kindly ministered unto by her children and friends. She is at rest to-day, where sickness and sorrow are not known.

Her funeral was largely attended by sorrowing friends and neighbors. Interment was made in the city cemetery. The funeral was conducted by Rev. N.W. Burtner, pastor of the United Brethren church. --- COM -
