Dr. Rowe came to Iowa with his parents in 1836. He was reared to farm life which he followed till twenty-four years of age. Then he went as teacher and missionary to the Indian field, locating at Ft. Towson in the Chocktaw Nation. Here he began the study of medicine, graduating from the medical college at Memphis, Tenn., in 1854.
He married his wife who survives him at Clarkville, Texas. They came north and settled at Atalissa in this county where he successfully practiced his profession for twenty years. Then he moved to their elegant farm seat where they resided until about five years ago when they came to this town.
