OBITUARY.

The late DAVID L. ROWE was born in Steuben county, N. Y., Dec. 16, 1817, and died at the home of Mr. John Cope in Wilton, Iowa, Feb. 11, 1896, aged 78 years, 1 month and 25 days. Dr. Rowe came to Iowa with his parents in 1836. He was reared to farm life which he followed till twenty-four years of age. Then he went as teacher and missionary to the Indian field, locating at Ft. Towson in the Chocktaw Nation. Here he began the study of medicine, graduating from the medical college at Memphis, Tenn., in 1854.

He married his wife who survives him at Clarkville, Texas. They came north and settled at Atalissa in this county where he successfully practiced his profession for twenty years. Then he moved to their elegant farm seat where they resided until about five years ago when they came to this town. Dr. Rowe was a very active man physically and intellectually until some more than a year since he received serious injury from a fall. For some months past he has been gradually but surely losing his hold upon things in this life. He was a member of the Wilton Presbyterian church. The funeral services were observed at the residence of Mr. John Cope Friday afternoon; interment at Oak Dale. Four sons and one daughter, besides the faithful wife, remain to lament the departure of the loving father and husband.—Review.
