HENRY WINDLE, SR.
July 23, 1895 (hand written)

One of the prosperous old-time farmers of Wilton township, Henry Windle, Sr., passed away at 7 o’clock last evening, after an illness of nine days, with bowel complaint. The deceased was a native of Germany, and upon deciding to emigrate to this land of his adoption, came directly to Iowa, making his home in Wilton township, where he resided constantly for a period of forty years. He attained the ripe old age of 84 years. He was an industrious tiller of the soil until late years and successed in accumulating a fine competence.

Mr. Windle was highly esteemed as a worthy citizen by all who knew him, and was a faithful member of the Lutheran church. His wife preceded him to the other world more than a year ago, and his taking off is mourned by five children, Henry, on the home farm; John, now in Colorado; Mrs. John Marolf, of Rock Rapids; Mrs. Kindlesburger, of Illinois, and Mrs. W. Tyler Shiflett, of Muscatine city. The funeral appointment will await the coming of absent relatives.
