DEATH OF WM. OTHMER

William Othmer, an old settler of Muscatine, died at his home, seven miles below the city, on the Burlington road, last night, at 10 o’clock, aged seventy-two years.

For the past three months the deceased had been suffering with an attack of jaundice, which, with other complications and his old age, made it impossible for him to rally. He was born in Gaslor, Hanover, Germany, and came to America in 1854, in the following year in Buffalo, New York, having from there to Muscatine, there he resided until fourteen years ago, when he removed to the farm where he died. He was married twice; his first wife’s maiden name being Caroline Hartman, who died thirty-two years ago. His second wife, who survives him, was Mary Meyer, sister of Rev. Jacob Meyer, of Chicago. From the two unions twelve children were born, three from the first and nine from the second, all of whom survive their father.

The funeral will be held Tuesday from the German Baptist church, of which the deceased had long been an honorable member.
