DEATH OF MRS. M. P. PACE
Dec. 4, 1894 (hand written)Mrs. M.P. Pace died at her home in Sweetland township yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock, after a lingering illness of several months, aged almost 70 years.
The deceased was born in Indiana on Feb. 26th, 1825, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Chambers. She came to Muscatine county with her family in 1836, and in 1843 was united in marriage to M.P. Pace. From this union eight children were born, five of whom survive, they being E.W. Pace, of Des Moines; Mrs. M.A. Nye, of Creston; Mrs. Dr. Battey, Elbridge G. and Elvin Y., both of this county. Her husband preceeded her across the dark waters about two years ago. Mrs. Pace was one of the oldest pioneers of Muscatine county and was highly respected by all who knew her.
