DEATH OF MRS. MARGARET COUGHLIN

Oct 2, 1894-- Mrs. Margaret Coughlin died at her home on West Fifth street yesterday at 1:15 o’clock, aged 59 years. The deceased was born in Shuries, County Tipperary, Ireland, December 12th, 1835. She had been a resident of Muscatine since 1850. Her husband, Richard Coughlin was a member of the 35th Iowa and gave his life for his country, dying a few days after his discharge. Two children survive her, John J., of this city, and Charles R., of Grand Island, Nebr. The funeral was held this afternoon at 2 o’clock.

At her residence on West Fifth street at 1:15 o’clock yesterday afternoon occurred the death of Mrs. Margaret Coughlin, after a protracted illness. The deceased had been a resident of this city since 1850. She was born in Thurles, County Tipperary, Ireland, on December 12th, 1835, and consequently was in her 59th year. Her maiden name was Richard Coughlin. The latter responded to the call of duty in the dark hour of the nation’s peril and served in the 35th Iowa until the close of the war, and died from the effects of the privations, hardships and exposure of army life three days after his return home in ’65. Two children were born unto them, John J., of this city, and Charles R., now of Grand Island, Nebraska. Two sisters and a brother residing in Ireland also survive.

The funeral is appointed to take place this afternoon at 2 o’clock.
