MATHIAS NESTER

Sept 19, 1894, Mathias Nester, a long-time and well-known resident of this county who followed the pursuits of the farm until recently, died yesterday morning at his home on Fletcher avenue. He had been ill for a week and succumbed to an attack of paralysis in his 58th year. The funeral will take place from st. Mary’s church Saturday morning at 9 o’clock.

Sept 21, 1894---The funeral of the late Matthias Nester took place from St. Mary’s church at 9 o’clock yesterday morning. The deceased was born in Dunningen, Wurtemburg. February 20th, 1837. He came to America and Muscatine county in 1854 and here he had resided continuously for two score years, following teaming and farming. In 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Caroline Norman who with a twelve-year-old daughter, Lena, mourns his demise. His brother John of this city and another brother and sister in German also survive. Deceased was an honest and industrious citizen and was held in high regard by all who knew him.
