Obituary.

JAMES FOSTER, for many years a highly respected citizen of Muscatine county, died Wednesday, December 13, 1893, at his home in Lake township. Mr. Foster was born in Pike county, Ohio, October 18, 1817, and was therefore in his 77th year. He came to Muscatine county in 1847 and settled in Lake township, where he resided till his death. He was twice married. He married Miss Elizabeth Sailor (now deceased). Four children were born to them – Jeremiah and Christina (now Mrs. Haroff), and two deceased, Michael and Wesley. He moved to Iowa in 1847 and married Miss Melinda Boiler. Two children were born to them – William H. and Minerva (now Mrs. Miller).

The deceased lived a temperate life. He was pleasant and generous at home and abroad and was honest and upright in his dealings. He leaves a host of friends and relatives who mourn the loss of a loving friend, husband and father. --- CDM.
