DIED

Saturday, September 2, 1893, at 1:15 o’clock a. m., at the home of her brother on West 3d street, of congestion of the lungs, Miss MARTHA MOORE, in her 79th year.

The above announcement will be a sad shock to the many friends of this amiable lady, who but yesterday was out driving in the family carriage, and was apparently in her usual health. She had spoken of a slight oppression for several days past, but did not consider it of any moment. Early this morning she was stricken with congestion of the lungs, immediately affecting the heart, and died within an hour.

The deceased was born in Gardiner, Maine, January 15, 1815, where she lived until 1852, when she came to Muscatine to comfort and assist her brother at the time of his wife’s death. She had since resided with him well beloved by the family circle and highly respected and esteemed by many friends. She had for many years been a communicant of Trinity Episcopal church and an interested worker for church purposes, her generosity in all charitable works being most marked.

She is survived by her brother, H. W. Moore, one sister, Mrs. M. M. Southgate, and her nephews, H. S. and George Moore.

The funeral services will be held at Trinity Episcopal church, Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Theodore Riley, D. D.
